I'm thinking of buying a Nikon 14-24 from B&H in the US and having it shipped to Australia because of the excellent exchange rate we have just now.

My question is, has anyone ever done this? Did they get good service?

How good is B&H in general for goods and customer service?

Does anyone know for sure if I'll be covered by Nikon's international warranty?

Any stories, experiences you can share about B&H would be appreciated!

Thanks all in advance!

can't answer many of your questions except to say i have ordered from b&h many times and have always been pleased with the service i've received! first rate business in my opinion.

I can only comment that I have purchased cameras, lenses, and accessories from B&H and always had good experiences. I never had to deal with their customer service as I have never had problems with the items I've purchased. Every thing I've bought came as advertised, no problems. However I live in the USA. For answers regarding international purchases, you may want to call or email them regarding the warranty issues. I will buy from them again for future needs/wants.

I have bought Heliopan and B+W filters and various accessories at B&H and received what I had ordered promptly and in good condition. I live in Canada (on the other side of the continent) and would not hesitate to do business with them in the future. I know of several other people who have purchased from B&H internationally and share my experience.

Thanks all!

I'm still considering it as if I have to pay taxes here in Australia and my bank gives me a crap rate on the conversion on my credit card, it's not going to work out a whole lot cheaper after all.

I bought my 70-200 f4L from b&H a couple of years ago, had to pay some customs, can't remember how much now.
I was well worth it at the time, save a couple of hundred dollars. Their service was fine, no complaints.

Hi Iain.
My father and I have bought almost all our gear from B+H at often 40% less than local retailer prices in South Africa even after Courier, insurance and VAT being paid. Fast, efficient, friendly live chat and email support. There is a B+H "rule" that Nikon bodies cannot be shipped out of the USA. In this event we use MyUS.com who buy on our behalf with an American street address and have them ship it to me later at a nominal extra purchase fee of about 2-5% depending on the account type you sign up for. We are awaiting 2 more D90's right now for USD $809-00 each and they should arrive within the next 48 hours.
For everything else we buy direct from B+H
