hello, friends.

i'm in atlanta ga for work and i was wondering if anybody had any suggestions of places to take pictures, booze, or take pictures while boozing. i'm in buckhead and i've already checked out gordon biersch. this is my first time here, so i'm open to suggestions. i've heard that the aquarium is top notch. anything else?

also, thank goodness for the built in spell checker in firefox, because this post would be riddled with errors otherwise. don't judge me, i like to enjoy a nice beer here and there ;)

here's to me waking up for work on time tomorrow :)

Take your camera to Centennial park. Day or night its always fun shooting. Also, you wanna take a cab to downtown and walk around a bit, hit the clubs and snap fun shots. I grew up in Atlanta and never ran out of fun things to shoot and great places to get a drink with friends. :)

How long are you in town? I am working tonight, but this is my last shift for the week unless I get called in for a plane ride. Either way, I imagine that we could manage to meet up for some shooting and BEER! I also like beers. Do you have a car here, or are you relying on our pathetic public transportation? Either way, Buckhead has some nice buildings to shoot, and getting into downtown isn't too difficult. I have a shoot in Piedmont Park on Wednesday and should be finishing up with that around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. There are some great areas to shoot the skyline, particularly at night, but it takes a little knowledge of the city to make getting around easier. The Aquarium is top notch, the zoo is embarrassing, teh botanical gardens are nice, and we have some very, very good restaurants for beer. Decatur is a a little ways off from Buckhead, but the Brickstore would be worth the cab ride over. Also, there are Taco Macs in several different locations. The closest to you should be the Lindbergh Store. 100 beers on tap and another 300 or so in bottles and cans. Taco Mac is my absolute favorite place in the world. You'd be much better off avoiding Gordon Biersch and heading over to a Taco Mac. Anyway, shoot me an email or PM and maybe we can meet up for a shoot and some beer. I should be around all week.

right on, thanks for all the love guys.. i just got back from the hotel bar, so things are even worse (better) now. i'm in town till friday. i'm with a buddy who is my age and has a similar mindset, and we have a car thanks to your tax dollars so i can pretty much get anywhere.

sceneiti'll definitely try to check out the brickstone pub and drop some names there. ericwoo i'll drop you a PM when i'm a bit more sober. taco mac sounds like my kind of place. i'd love to add to my list of dpc'ers i've met aside from scottieham. restaurants that are very good for beer are of high interest of me. gordon biersch didn't have a good IPA on tap, so i've pretty much sworn them off.

i think this is going to be an awesome work trip to a cool city. i'll definitely get back to you guys soon.

it's great to know i can count on this community no matter where i end up. i love dpc.

oh, and idnic, centenial park is on the top of my list :)

The zoo isn't embarrassing! The pandas. They are cute. But I admit the aquarium blows it away.

Decatur is easy to get to - there's a MARTA stop right smack in the middle of the square and the Brick Store is right there. Twain's Billiards & Tap is down the street. Leon's is around the corner. There are a gazillion great restaurants all over town, just pick up a Creative Loafing (the free weekly) for ideas. Oh, try and get to The Porter in Little 5 Points (by car) - their beer list is ridiculous, and they're in the middle of one of the most, um, interesting neighborhoods in Atlanta.

I second (third?) what Cindi and Eric said about shooting intown. I'll add downtown (near Woodruff Park), but only during the day; it gets scary down there at night.

lol my desire to shoot photos is inversely proportional to my desire to be shot in the face :P thanks for the heads up :)

The Sweetwater 'brewery tour' also happens this afternoon. One of the best IPAs around! Anyway, it starts at 4:20 and the brewery is just outside of buckhead. I think the site is sweetwaterbrew.com.
