I should have known it was a bad idea to run over to Fry's at lunch today. Came out with the 3 license pack of Windows 7. This will cover my main desktop system and two netbooks at $50 per system. At only $30 more than a single copy, it kinda made sense to get the multi-pak.

Anyone else take the first day plunge?

I'm not spending money in a hurry because I need a whole new computer. This is what I've been waiting for though. Just hope I don't see any negative comments.

This machine has to go because it can't keep up with anything I need any more.

(watch the clock on the stove if you can get past the really really bad acting)

There have been a lot of parodies on this on the various video sites, this is my new favorite

i dunno. when you're the biggest market holder for business computers - and you KNOW that most of those didn't upgrade from XP to vista... WHY in the world would you release a 'state of the art' OS and pretty much deny any of those business users an upgrade.

i'm talking corporate.

easy peasy vista to win7

XP to vista - hmmm not so much...

oh yeah the virtual XP - that's a fix and half divided by zero....

ETA: IMO of course.

I'm putting it on the Netbook I got for my wife. It will be interesting to see how my Mac snob wife takes to it.

No, XP.

The only way for me to really know all the nuts and bolts is to have it on my own computers.

In other MS news, Microsoft finally fired off their first decent advertising zinger picking on Apple. In particular, this one picks on the apps store.

I'm kind of rooting for MS to come back at Apple with some advertising campaign that is as effective and snarky as the "Get a Mac" ads have been.

Ours copies were delivered today. I guess I'll be installing in my office computer tonight. Since I switched to Mac for my personal stuff last year, I'm not as interested in Windows 7 as I might have been. And anyway, I installed the RC when it came out and, well, frankly, I yawned. I read articles from die-hard Mac authors suggesting that Win 7 was an OS X killer. I think it's going to take a lot more than snapping windows and fewer nag screens to do that. No idea what it's like under the hood, though, since I stopped using the RC once I saw what it was all about. We'll see.

6 floppies if I recall correctly. One of my first jobs when I left school was working in a computer configuration department where we setup users machines according to their specs - so we had to install this from scratch on each PC that required it. The ones we really hated were the ones who wanted MS Office as well which was around 21 floppies.

Many games of Hearts were played!

I vaguely remember that you could get Windows95 on floppy and it was something like 28 disks!

LMAO, I recently found a set of floppies for DOS and 3.11. I'm tempted to create a VM. Haven't gotten around to it yet.

Testing a win7 upgrade for a client right now, it's not going to do it, have to do a clean install, which is nice to at least have Windows agreeing with me with what we SHOULD do. :)

Hmm, the BurgerKing burger - only available to the first 30 people to order it each day for the next seven days! It's valued at twice the selling price, too! And, and ... I'm not sure I know of any BurgerKing stores here in Utsunomiya!

Anyway, I don't plan on upgrading from XP, but my wife needs a new laptop so we might get Windows 7 eventually - Japanese version, of course.

I was so excited about Win7 coming out that I went out and bought a mac :)

In all seriousness, well, I was serious, I did go out and buy a mac, but jesting aside. I did install the release candidate onto a 6 year old Dell and I must say it ran well. I would pretty much say that its a working version of Vista... To me it was nothing exciting, but then again I'm a mac guy so... I guess I equate that to asking a Nikon guy how much he likes the new 5D... My wife has to use Windows for work, so I am going to upgrade her P.C. for her at some point...
