I posted a thread before about shooting in the midday sun. I have a whole team--hair, makeup, stylist, and a professional model. Before, I was worried about shooting in the midday sun--the date is this Saturday, and now forecast calls for 90% chance of rain. It says it won't be a lot of rain (0.4" according to the web), but I can't take my chances, and I need to have a way to tough it out and shoot in light rain. If it gets to be heavy rain, I know we'll all pack up and leave, constantly touching up makeup and getting clothes wet to return to the designers is a big no-no. I don't want to take any chances of getting it wet, and I'm not sure how waterproof my camera is for the most part.

Any suggestions? I have a shutter release cable and will probably be shooting on a tripod, and quite possibly on a stepladder, too.

Will the rain give you the right effect that the client wants in the first place? And probably an obvious question, but what are your options in regards to rescheduling if the weather doesn't cooperate?

I think it would work. Our options for rescheduling are limited, all of us are booked most days and this just is an odd day that we have free. If necessary, we can rebook, but it'll be hell.

Forecast now says "Isolated showers, 60% chance of rain, 0.1" predicted." Looking up, maybe, but still need a way to work in possible rain.

I still say buy or rent one of those pop-up "pavilions" people use for large picnics and such. I think they are about 12 feet square, and are tall enough to shoot under (get a light-colored one). Party rental/supply places should have them, and I think I've seen them at Costco ... a place like Home Depot might also have them.

They are also referred to as "EZ-Ups" (that's one brand's name). You can get them at larger sporting goods stores, too.

You can get a 10' x 10' model for less than USD$100 (maybe around USD$80).

Also, don't forget a RainSleeve for your camera(s) . . .

Your local Ritz Camera store should have them for USD$5.95 for a two-pack.

Tip: always use a lens hood to help keep water droplets from finding your front glass element.
