Hi Friend,

I have recently bought Studio lights (strobes) and set up small studio at my home and clicked some photographs of my daughter.

Please check it and give your suggestion and comments on it.
How do you like it? How can I be a better photographer?

Thank you,

Regards,
Ankur

I had a quick look though your pics. suggestion - your focus on some of them needs to be the eyes.
question - what was your shutter speed?

Congrats on getting the studio lighting. I think the first thing I would recommend is to read the lighting 101 section on Stobist. It provides so much details on how to improve the lighting of your studio work. Strobist is a great resource and one you will want to go back to time and again.

Your daughter is adorable! I'm not that good of a photographer, but I did notice that there is some lens dust in many of the photos. Did you edit these at all? Some of them look like they could use some levels adjustment. Work with your histogram to give the photos that extra contrast (pop!)

disclaimer : I have never used strobes, or anything other than external flash..

But a piece of advice looking at the photographs - to understand and experiment with lighting I would pick a more stable subject! While your daughter is beautiful - she is at an age where they like to move a lot, and while learning a moving subject is just going to make you take 100 pictures and get 1 right, without really understanding whats happening with the lights - the goal should be to take 2 and get the lighting perfect in both!

just my opinion!

My Shutter speed was 1/125 sec. I think this is synchronized speed with strobes for NIKON.

Hi Thanks for your advise. I have done very basic editing with picasa. I am planning to edit it using Photoshop this weekend.

Thanks Vikas,

I will try to shoot with stable object and will get my lighting perfect and then I will experiment with moving subject.
