A friend of mine went on a multi-day hike to the top of Mt Whitney.

He has an older Canon digital camera and accidentally changed it from still images to recording video. He has multiple short video clips and wants still images from this.

Can anyone tell me how he might extract a picture from the video?

Thanks

I *think* most video editing programs allow you to export individual frames, but they will be pretty low resolution. You *might* get nearly as good a result from stopping the video at the desired frame and capturing a screen-shot or just re-photographing the screen.

Too bad -- I've been to Mt.Whitney (not to the top, though :-( ) -- I wish I had more pictures (this was in bad old pre-digital days).

yes, every video program I work with allows you to export stills, however it is likely that the video was recorded at 360x240 pixels, so don't expect much for resolution.

Here's a good free one: MPEG StreamClip by Squared 5.
I use it for other purposes, but it cuts single frames quite nicely.

oops - try this one instead: Super C by eRightSoft.

Choose "Sequence of Images" in the Output Container dropdown. It will convert the entire clip with one click.

Thanks for the help. Is there anyone else with experience with this?
