I am not a wedding photographer, yet I'll be shooting 3 in the coming months for friends and family. Here is my question:
One of the weddings I'll be shooting will be a commitment ceremony for two women, and I'm unsure of how to pose. If anyone can give me some ideas or give me some inspiration, I would greatly appreciate it!

| Just like a regular wedding, you should ask the couple what they want and pay attention to their answer. |

| another thing that would work, i would think, is to go sites or blogs of wedding photogs and study what they do. "locally" simms' port, and julia bailey (grigrigirl) are two that come to mind, as well as a lady named jessica claire. by looking at what they've done, you may be able to get some more ideas. |

| I agree with spaz...no need to come up with anything special. These are just two more human beings that have decided to commit their lives and love to one another. Enjoy it as a happy time and capture that joy. Do ask them beforehand which formal shots are 'must-haves' for them and that should give you some idea of where to start. I also agree with karmat. Look around locally and see what others are paying for, then shoot the event to your style. Most of all, enjoy it and have fun. I absolutely love doing weddings. I can't remember one yet where I haven't gotten a little teary. They have invited you to be a part in one of the most special times in their lives. Make sure you treat in and appreciate it that way. Though I have a limited number of weddings to draw from, there is something I'm thinking of doing for future events.
I think it would be sensible to setup a checklist (play card)of the various scenarios considered to be standard "shots" for a wedding. For example, Bride & Groom, Bride & Groom & parents from both sides, Bride & Parents, Groom & Parents, etc etc.
You could laminate it and have it with you with a dry erase. Go through it with the clients and "poof" there ya go. It would look organized and make sure you got it all.
Just a thought.
IMO, unless you are afforded an ample amount of time, it is better to be fluid and complete than to get stuck on preset poses and scenarios.

I assisted a friend on a wedding shoot and she required the bride & groom to provide her with a list of all the family images they wanted.. Especially since the brides parents were divorced and there were step parents & step/half brothers & sisters involved.. With all that going on, as the photog, she had no idea who the heck was who.. So, I think it's a great idea to get a check list as  Ivo has suggested.. It really made things go very smooth.. The bride had the same check list as we did prior to us even arriving and she was able to tell everyone what order the shots were going to be taken so no one was standing around waiting for their turn.. |

| I am not worried about the group shots. It's my family, and there will only be about 20 guests. I want just interested to see if anyone had any suggestions for posing the brides. I've been doing some image searches and becoming very inspired! |

Take their personalities into account and don't be afraid to ask them if there's anything specific they want. Could be fun. |
