My daughter's looking at an internship here...anyone here with firsthand knowledge about the place or the area?

Highlands is an absolutely beautiful area. It is out in the middle of nowhere. Very rural, in some ways. A lot of retirees, etc.

I've never heard about the retreat center, but I have some coworkers who are UU and I will ask them about it tomorrow.

Talked to one of my coworkers and she was very familiar with the place. She said the physical buildings/accomodations were nice, and well laid out and there were good hiking trails and perhaps some whitewater opportunities nearby.

I asked her if she thought it would be a good place for a young lady to do an internship, and she wholeheartedly supported that idea. If you have more specific questions, you can ask me here or in a PM and I will try to get them answered.

I have nothing to add, just wanted to keep this from being an SC exclusive thread. But I will say I agree I drove through that area in June and it was fantastic.

Are you going to hide Matt's post, or do you want me to do it?

I'm not familar with place. But I do know the area. I live an hour away and I'm up there a lot. Its a great place to live and crime is extremly low. Rafting is big around this area and of course the Biltmore Estate is beautiful. Your daughter should have a great time. And we wish her all the best.
