I suggest posting the following weeks challenges a week before submission is open.. It makes it easier to plan the shots..
What do you guys think??

I already wait until the last day (the majority of the time), so it really wouldn't make much of a difference. I fully believe in procrastination.

A better way to live.

For me the issue is being busy most of the time...
If I knew what next week's challenge will be, I can plan my week better...
That's the reason my participation in challenges is very rare..

I would like this too. As it is, I often wait until midnight on Tuesday to find out the challenge, falsely believing that if I knew just that little bit sooner, I could produce a better image. Knowing a week in advance to plan the shot, would let me get to bed earlier, give me a chance to practice shooting before submitting, and hopefully encourage more participation as well. Recently, there have been a lot of challenges with less than 100 entries.

I find it annoying to submit an image with X amount of days left and having to wait that long before voting starts. Drives me insane.. that's why I usually wait till the last day or two before I shoot anything=)

by the way, is the drop in challenge entries a usual summer trait? Entries and voting both seem slower in the last 1/2 month or so. (Yes, I realize that it's only summer in the northern hemisphere, but I'm thinking that majority are in this half of the planet...)

I know what you mean about the drop in entries...just noticed it recently, started when I was only getting a comment or two a shot, then noticed some of the basic challenges were just 2 pages of photos. I think everyone is either afraid of DNMC and just entering images for Free Study only.

No thanks. Having one week to get a shot is part of the challenge in itself, and one of the things I like about DPC.

Plus you have the shady members who would change the camera date to get an entry ready before the start time.

A week is plenty of time for me - I don't think my entry would be better just having time to plan ahead.

I would hate knowing a week ahead. It is hard enough waiting for the the submission deadline to pass and voting to start, and then waiting for the voting to finish. I'd hate for an extra week to be put on there before I could take my shot and I would be frustrated if I practiced and got a shot I wanted and then had to retake it a week later. Challenges aren't supposed to be easy, right? :) They are supposed to be challenging.

My thoughts exactly. That's scary...

Then... would one day be OK???
At least we get to plan for wednesday..
And for those who don't like to submit early... no one said you have to!
The whole idea is to increase participation!!
