Did you boyfriend photograph these images...or did he just do the editing?

Alex,
These look more like photoshop tricks to me. If it is indeed made with photographs he took, I dont get what is so special technically. |

It's tough to say how he photoshopped it without seeing the original also. Some of the photos may give that look possibly by technique and some photoshop.
Looks like there's : some lens blur: added a layer of scratches, desaturated all colors except for yellow, cyan, blue, and red.

If you google the effect you want you will find loads of tutorials showing you how to do all of this.
Here is one link that will give you lens blur and texture overlays.

That one has a bunch of layers. How many unknown. Some kind of red background with the subject on top and more layers on top of that. |

Due to the asypherical nature of the blur, I'd bet it was a Lensbaby with a section of the original confined and noised up a little. |

No offense. And I am not sure if it is common with teens in the U.S., but its odd that most of his work seems dark (gloomy, death etc.). You guys should be photographing good and positive stuff. About life. Such art coming from youngsters is scary to me.

probably just as scary as some people in my age (including myself to some extend) find people who only photograph flowers and hdr-ish landscapes...
alex, from the looks of that blurry one i'd say there was some painting with light, but who knows...
nice work of your boyfriend btw, very burlesque and manson like! |
