Hey all!

It's damn hard to believe I haven't entered a challenge in 6 months!!! Is that even possible????
Well, I moved from Orlando, FL to Austin, TX and all of the fun that goes along with a big move. Had a very very sick dog that I'm still nursing back to health, and haven't had a minute to spare!

Things are finally settling down, and I'm ready to start hitting the update button! I see much the same riff raff in the forums that was here before, so I'll see y'all (My new TX vernacular) around real soon!

Jake

Welcome back and I am sorry to hear about your dog.

Now about that riff raff....it wasn't me!!!!! LOL! And you had better not worry about hitting the update button...Langdon has hooked up some wires to it...you will get a shock everytime you touch it...hehehhee!

Yup, you've been gone too long. I didn't even remember who you were until I clicked into your profile, then I remembered.
Wait... maybe that's not your absence but simply my senile goldfish-like memory span... What were we talking about?

Hey guys! And yep, this is pretty much the riff raff I was talking about! lol

Bad news first, my dog Jonas was very, very sick. Very long story short, he got a fungal infection in his sinuses, which they originally thought might be a tumor. Two days before I was supposed to move i was waiting for biopsy results to to find out if i was going to have to put him down. When I found out it was "just" a fungal infection I figured I was in the clear, and almost two months later I am FINALLY starting to see some results. (at $150 per week for antifungal meds) I've been on such a roller coaster of emotion with him, I'm afraid even now to start thinking things are getting better.

The good news! Austin has been great. I moved here totally sight unseen when I got an offer to transfer with my job. I had been feeling a bit stagnant in Orlando, and I wanted to get out and experience something new. Austin is right up my alley! Great music scene, tons of outdoor activities, lots of similarly minded people, I think I'll really dig it here! I'm pretty much starting over photography wise. Gotta find all those challenge picture locations all over again, but that's half of the fun. I'll add some new pics from this weekend to my profile and update this thread here in a minute...

Good to see all of you!!! Ken, you were on hiatus about the time I had to take a break. Good to see it was only temporary! :-)

Excuuuuse me?? The others may be riffraff but I'm most certainly not! (I'm just a wannabe, sadly looking on from the sidelines...*sob*)

Isn't it amazing the things we'll do for our dogs? Glad he's on the mend and hope he stays well this time :)

Good to see you back Jake. Hope your dog continues to improve. BTW, why not shoot over to a border town and get the medication. I'm sure it will be cheaper!

The border is quite a drive from Austin, and I don't have a passport anymore. I am considering ordering the next couple of months worth at one time from Canada. I couldn't do it with the last prescription cause I needed it asap and couldn't wait 3 weeks for shipping. I can get two months worth for what I'm currently paying for about two weeks, if you can believe that!

Here's some pics from my first few outings here in TX...

Oh dear....I think we have a problem. I am sure the new rules stated that people from your area were allowed to join but not allowed to enter any challenges. And looking at those photos...yup...thems the rules....no challenges for you matie...lol!

Judi, I joined a year ago and never let my membership lapse... so am I good to go??? ;-)

Ben, All of those pics except for the bridge were taken at Pedernales Falls State Park. It was a great outing, and an area I'm sure I'll go back to if Judi OK's it!

Welcome back, I just got back from a hiatus due to a move from northern lower Michigan down to Miami. I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, I moved with my 10 year old pit/boxer mix and thankfully she handled the trip beautifully. I wish a speedy recovery for your pup and all the best for you in your new city :)
