So, did anyone get a shot of this moronic event?
04/30/2009 11:37:59 AM · #2
I watched a video of it, and the people on the ground where screaming and running for their lives.

What friggin bunch of idiots thought that this was a good idea? Any other city, they 'may' have got away with it, but NY. Talk about bringing back memories and adding a few new ones to the bunch.

Completely moronic. I was disgusted

my thoughts exactly.
Thats why I hope the big 'secret' photo shoot was captured by many photographers, in which will negate their little 'exclusive' photo

Next shoot was planned for DC....ummm, another wise choice...but they *ahem* cancelled it.

Bet someone loses there job over that!

It was beyond moronic. Nobody will lose any jobs, since it was Obama and his staff that authorized it...

I believe that they should have given some sort of notice to the public and I understand the fear it may have raised in some people. But things have to get back to normal at some stage and living in panic every time you see a jet flying near a city has to stop. That is exactly the type of thing the terrorist love to see.

It was a Government Plane the one that carries our President, So perhaps not giving out the flight plan was the best idea for security reasons.

Make your own fly-over photo and maybe win a contest.

The fact that Obama knew nothing of this "photo op" is a ludicrous idea. If the "President" doesn't know that his own plane is flying over NY, then this country is in BIG trouble. He is, after all, in charge of this country - the annointed One. There's no excuse. No wonder people are still frightened of another terrorist attack under his watch.
And in typical fashion, let's find a scapegoat to take the fall...

I rather appreciate the fact that the President isn't micro-managing to the extent that he schedules airplane flights. Somehow, managing two wars and the recovery of a collapsed economy seem like more appropriate areas to which to devote his attention.

fear, frightened, terrified, scared, worried..... falling right in line with what the terrorists want you to feel. Even without another attack. They must have loved seeing all those people flee like that. If that's the case they won!

Was Fetor involved? I think he was out of the country though. Unless he's lying to us and is in hiding. *grin*

There are two 747's that are for presidential use. Tail numbers:28000 and 29000. He can use either of them. There's no reason for him to even THINK about where his plane is, or isn't. That's what he's got his peeps for.

I used to do fire protection on Andrews AFB, MD (Home of Air Force One) and there were times that the planes were out flying with only the flight crews aboard. You can't just have the flightcrew and plane sitting on the ground 24/7. They HAVE to get in the air every so often to keep up their certifications and to make sure the plane works like it's supposed to.

Personally, I would be a lot more concerned if the President micro-managed his working environment to the point that he had to assume personal responsibility for things such as security and flights.

Regarding the bolded portion of your comment, are we to assume that people had no such fears under the past leadership. Again, on a personal note, I much prefer the tactful and diplomatic approach espoused by your current leader to the hawkish demeanour of your previous president, and would wager that I am not alone in thinking this way.

Have a great day.

You all can think what you want. That's the beauty of a free country - at least for now. I still don't buy into the fact that he didn't know about the photo op (BTW, how many more does he need in his first 100 days???). The last time I checked, NYC was still a no fly zone. Does that not need special clearance above and beyond micro managing? It's not like the plane was flown over the Grand Canyon. And IF (I'm reaching here) for some reason he didn't know, then the people surrounding him (and appointed by him) are indeed lacking in the smarts department.

As far as the statement I made -under his watch- people are afraid. Any time you cut defense spending (how much did it cost to fly the plane over NYC, anyway?) and kiss up to terrorists and tyrants warrants concern over this country's safety...

You have a great day as well! :o)

I was being sarcastic regarding your first statement. LOL ;o)

As far as the second comment, I'm betting on another attack in less than a year from now. And, of course, it will be Bush's fault... ;o)
