Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II/III USM
Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro for Canon
Just curious if anyone has tried both these lenses and has an opinion. I know some people may suggest a more expensive lens, I'm interested in one of these two specifically. A guy at the camera store recommend the Sigma over the Canon because of the APO Lens and the fact that it does Macro. I've looked at the photos on here and both look to do good work. My dad owns a 75-300mm and the biggest problem is the bluryness from shake but either lens will do that if I am not perfectly still(and preferebly using a tripod).

Haven't tried both, but did own the Sigma for some years until I upgraded to the Canon 100-400L. I was thoroughly impressed with it, and would be amazed if, as an entry level tele zoom, it could be beaten.

Don't know which one is better but sales people always recommend 3rd party gear because they make more money on it.

I`ve used both. I borrowed the canon lens from a friend for a few days before i bought the sigma.
I found the sigma sharper and the macro feature very handy as at the time as i had no dedicated macro lens.

As SaraR says this has to be the best budget zoom lens available.
Make sure you get the one with the red ring around the top.

I have just sold the Sigma 70-300 APO and I think it is a lot better than that Canon version IMO

It's not at all hard to beat the Canon 75-300. Several of the Canon 70-300 lenses are far better as well. I don't recommend the Canon 75-300 at all.
