We have the full Acrobat PDF software package, but it's version 4. Admittedly, it's ancient, but it does what we need, and is much lighter in weight than the full versions these days.

The problem is, as progress bloats along, more people are writing PDFs to version 7, which is not openable by our version 4 package.

Acrobat's free Reader software seems to fight with my version 4 full package and eventually version 4 Distiller ceases to function, and also the PDF writer.

Does anybody know of some LIGHT-WEIGHT software which will open modern PDFs?

I've tried "CoolPDFReader" so far, but it doesn't work. :-( Something like it would be perfect, though. A single, small EXE that just runs where it lives. Oh how I long for the days of DOS.

I use foxit reader. It works well for me.

Another vote for Foxit. It is far lighter weight than Adobe reader and loads much faster.

Ran some test and it looks like this is a winner! Thanks! :-D
