I am having difficulty getting exif data on my hdr photo...so i didn't use in last challenge. I bracketed three exposures on my Nikon D80. I tonemapped and finish editing in photoshop. I thought that this was now allowed in advanced competitions. My adobe programs did not provide me with any exif data on the hdr photo. Can anyone help?

What about the original 3 shots? As long as they have original shooting info, it should be fine, no?

I thought about that...but do you enter the exif data on all three photos? I am not sure when you fill in this information when submitting that it gives you room or the option for three? not sure.

The information you fill in when submitting is irrelevant so to speak. What counts is the EXIF info in the three (or more) shots you submit when asked for validation. As long as all the exposures you used were valid and have the EXIF intact (non-edited shots) then that is all you should worry about..unless your editing steps ran afoul.

ok...i have all the original and all the exif data on all three shots. when submitting, do you just leave it blank then and explain this is an hdr and submit the originals just to be on the safe side or wait until they ask? I just didn't think you could leave it blank.

You can leave it blank and it does not matter and you do not have to explain anything. It only matters when your photo is called for validation. That is when all your ducks need to be in a row so to speak. If you have the unedited originals and all the EXIF is intact and you did not violate any editing rules for the challenge you entered, you will be ok.

It's always helpful to list your editing steps in the additional info area when you submit -- often, it precludes having to ask you to send in your original(s). Only send them in at the time of submission if you think you will be away and unable to check your email (or the site) for more than one day, or if you are pretty sure that someone will suspect you've done something illegal and will request validation anyway.

You can still enter the f/stop and ISO, since they're almost always the same for all three shots. Usually just the shutter speed changes, so you could either leave that field blank, or choose the "biggest" of the multiples and list that. But really I think those fields are more for other photographers to reference than the SC, who will ask for original files if they need them.

I list the "normal" (middle) exposure data in the EXIF fields, and then describe the other exposures in the comments field. Not a problem...

I put f4.5 - 8 for aperture or 1/60 - 1/250 for shutterspeed ... like that ...
