Dilema... This will be my first DSLR, both have pros and cons, but I'd like to hear some advices on which one is more professional like.

I've got a 1000D and I love it. The kit lens is OK too.

Some samples from challenges here with the 1000D

I can't comment on the Nikon other than these samples.

Digital Photo Review has some great independant advice.

Get to a decent camera shop, hold both and I think your hand will decide.

Get a Pentax, IS built in, dust proofed and weather proof as standard. Pentax lenses are the tops and you have loads of cash left to get a whole load of lenses. Image quality is superb and PS is only used for resizing and a bit of sharpening.

Why bother with Canon or Nikon??

I’ve got a D60 and for me I much preferred the Entry level D-SLR's from Nikon over Cannon your best bet is to as mikeee suggested go to a shop have a feel see how you like the layout, the interface and the feel! Even the feel of a camera is a big thing!

But also as SteveJ suggested don’t stick with top brands have a feel of other SLR's too for entry level you’re not restricted as it were

I have the 1000D and I love it. My girlfriend has the Nikon...that is a great camera too. You can't really go wrong with either.
Also, as was stated above, don't rule out Pentax. They make great cameras/lenses. If you don't have any lenses for the manufacturers then you are free to try them all. Certainly give Pentax a try! Canon was a no brainer for me when I made the jump to digital because I already had some Canon lenses. Good luck!

Not to throw another variable into the equation, but I think if I were buying an entry level DSLR, I'd go with an Olympus.

Canon Release

Suggested retail price: $899

Far away from my budget limitations, so I come back to my dilema: D60 vs 1000D

I was looking for higher scores with the D60 and the 1000D, it looks like the D60 went better until now...

Regarding the lenses, is there any difference on quality vs price between the D60 and the 1000D ???
