I know its nothing compared to the expert stock photog's records, but still brings a smile to me:-)

Thanks for reading.

Congrats Prash! Your images in DPC are lovely .. You would have been a millionaire if only some site paid you for downloading the comments you make :)

you have to start somewhere!

Keep uploading and the sales will increase. Are you on any other sites? It really is better to spread your images around because different things sell well on different sites.

Thanks guys.

Yes I uploaded 8 more to dreamstime... 2 more of which approved. Others have stricter requirements. Lets see...

that's $0.35 more than i've made selling stock, so you're winning this race.

I've had 3 on iStock for over a year. I've made a whopping $3.30!

Not yet. I will. I wonder how people can make anough to afford a backup camera just from stock sales. Must be professionals... shooting for stock 24/7? :-)

I have, a couple of times, but I think my sensor and optics aren't good enough to withstand the massive upsampling required to meet their specs -- so far, I think I've only gotten one image past QC ...

For some perspective, this image, taken with my "ancient" 1.92MP Olympus near the end of 2004 (when Shutterstock was just starting up -- check out that image#), has earned almost $42; I don't know of any other site where it would have made anything (or been accepted) at all -- certainly not any "macro-stock" or traditional agency.

I've had the same 149-picture portfolio at SS for some time now ... including referral commissions it usually yields $8-15/month or so. Some fresh material would probably improve on that ... :-(

I have 1 image on stock and I am up to $6.00! Of course since the 1st check will be $200, they will be sitting on this for quite some time earning interest. I always meant to put more online but never had time.

I posted this earlier on this week, but I put 11 images on Alamy a couple of years ago and sales are now at $1200.

Wow!

You are an inspiration, among others.

Thanks for sharing this.

Here's another example. This image has made over $120 across 3 sites, with variations making still more. And I didn't even use a camera - just a geriatric scanner.

I'm not earning a fortune out of stock either, but if one's prepared to put in enough effort, one can do pretty well out of it. Now if I could just get a bit more creative and work a bit harder...

I think that is the great thing about microstock is it opens the stock world to everyone. Both people who just want a hobby income or some fun selling images can take part, and those wanting to make a living out of it can do that too.

And I got 0.03$ of those. Yay!

You should print our your earnings, and frame it.... seriously.

How many stores do you go in, where they frame the first $1 they earned... and then become successful stores. You have to start with 0.35, and build from there. Congrats on your first sale :D

Whats the rejection rate for Alamy like now? is it up like microstock?

Alamy is still considered (and advertised) as an un-edited collection. They don't control for type of image, just general image quality

Keep at it, and keep uploading (as I should). I've made about $160 so far on shutterstock, with only 69 images in my gallery there, but that's since 2005...so, not much, but it paid for my first lens purchase (Canon 50mm 1.8).

Just keep at it. I posted a few photos (25) on istock a few years ago. This one has just shy of $50. I wouldn't call any of mine on istock great photos, they were taken with a Canon 3.2MP P&S while I was working around some construction sites. I think the success is due more to the fact they are kind of "specialty" photos. I mean, who really takes construction related photos.

So far with these 25 photos, I've bought 2 CF cards, a 50mm f/1.8 lens and a set of extension tubes... Not going to replace my engineer salary with that, but it has fed my hobby.

I made enough on SS to buy the 40d with 28-135 lens. Been with SS since early 2007. Still hoping they'll offer exclusivity rewards so i can stop uploading all over. Too time consuming and I only upload about 5 -20 images a month.

My best-selling photo at SS is by far this one. I've been with them since about the start, but have never collected any money - only 49 photos so far. Oh yes, I really should submit more.
