I was just looking through my list of favs and these five caught my eye this week. Cool photos.

I love this one because of the tones and the angle.

This shot is expressive and artistic. It sets a strong mood.

This is by far one of my all time favorites because it breaks all of the rules and still manages to draw me in every time. Awesome image.

When I look at this the first thing that inspires me is the clever placement of the subject. I love that in this shot.

Everything about this image is wicked cool and speaks for itself.

A combination of the surreal and hyper-real that culminates in a classic.

Haunting. The fact that the eyes aren't even in focus just cements this for me.

There's an eclectic mix of textures here that fascinates me.

Emotive like nothing else I've encountered on DPC yet. A capture of something that so few people would even notice.

Tells a story, yet is so simple it's almost frightening.

Well I suppose in depends on how strict your definition of a portrait is but to me these five images are all in my favourites and are the types I like.

I prefer to see real people with emotion and hints on the subjects personality. I’m not real keen on your traditional beautiful model in make-up type portrait.

I found this guy Craig Martin the other day and think his work is stunning.

Some of mine may be considered "candids" rather than formal portraits, and these are from a bit back. Figure some of our newer members might not have seen a few of these.

These are my five favorite from my favorites. I'm sure if I went through all my favorite photographers the results may be difrferent... I guess it really depends on what type of mood I am in.

I don't have a lot of portraits in my favourites, they have to be something really special before I'll fave them. Here are 5 I do have faved.

This one because of the overall feel.

This one because, well, it just ROCKS! :)

This one because it is a tender shot and a riot of colour.

This one because of the mastery of lighting.

And this one because it is out of the box.

I don't have time to come up with 5, but these two have always given me goosebumps. I'm a sucker for kids. Both of these were taken by the parent of the child, and to me the love for their child and the personality of the child radiate from the photos.

For the soft gaze and gentle touch...

For the absolutely brilliant colors and full frame curl madness...

Mine are a little different. I am amazed at how much depth is contained in these portraits of the human condition.

Is it the composition or the "300" style abs? And for crying out loud he needs to pull up his pants.

BOTH! :) And no he does NOT need to pull up his pants... he has the body to wear them that low... I say go for it :) hehehehe

His pants are too low. It gives the wrong idea to young boys about pants and where they should wear them. We went through a similar phase in the 80's with Bon Jovi. I just don't want to see our youth make big mistakes.

I don't think they're pants - I think they're spray paint!

But they were inspired by those "cool" 80's bands. We have to understand that we are role models people! lol
