Take a picture of whatever is going on.

Show your ability to take a picture when some of the world participates in this black out.

candles, lanterns, the sky with no lights (for once) the stars etc etc etc

I agree....
Compulsary that the photo is taken local time, during Earth Hour......

If it doesn't get up Juliet, then i reckon you run a Side Challenge anyway.....

Sorry, I'm the slow kid in the class...

Does 8:30 pm Earth hour mean that wherever you are in the world you take a photo at 8:30pm at your local time? Please explain? And is the hour half hour before and half hour after? Sounds like fun - I just need to know what is meant here!

This is intriguing, but I confess to a couple of concerns ... if everyone really did this, there'd be a heckuva backup on the power grid, and, assuming it survives that, a surge of presumably monumental proportions when everyone switches everything back on at 9:30 ...

Paul, don't need to worry there, have not heard of any problems over here in previous years. Also, as i pointed out in the other thread, earth hour is about changing habits, and making people think, turning off lights for an hour is symbolic (and generates publicity). Much of the savings is from businesses turning off Lights and equipment that is unecessary (and that lasts the weekend), but more so, them reconsidering things, and turning them off every night from then on, leading to a change in habits for the better.
So, the spike isn't that large, and the system seems to handle it.

And for the Challenge
Take a Photo between 8:30pm and 9:30pm Local Time in some way related to Earth Hour

Paul - Can you see if we can get this as an additional Proper Challenge at that time????
