I have been wanting to do this for some time and finally I did it. I put together a Yearbook of a selection of my photos from 2008. There are over 400 photos displayed from all sorts of categories. I received my first copy yesterday and love it.

2008 - The Year That Was
96 pages
A4 Paperback - edge to edge print
$39-95 (USD)

Here are a couple of the pages to give you an idea of what is inside.

Wow ! they are so good .. is there a seperate section for the DPC Blue ribbons ;) I did a similar thing but it is not even half as good as yours. Also 96 pages in A4 at $40 is a very good price. I got mine done in Jessops in UK and it cost me £23 for 26 pages.

Jessops is very pricey though. I'd recommend Photobox. Looks fantastic Judi. I think you'd need a separate volumne for ribbons though, never mind a section ;-)

LMAO about the ribbons!! There was many ways I could have done this...but in the end I felt it would be easier for the reader if I separated the images into categories....which I did. I also did away with page numbers and instead colour coded each chapter so you can go to each section quicker. The contents section gives a breakdown of each of the chapters.

There are many photos in there that people haven't seen before...so there are little surprises along the way.

Very nice! From the two pages galleys you show us of the layout it looks clean & professional. Love the cover shot and the title - a nod to a little nostalgia of the days that have past;-).

Sorry, old habits from my magazine layout days, I have two questions/observations.

On the Page One Excerpt how much space is there from the pictures on the left side of Italy from the spine? I see that also with Page Two Excerpt with the Action page of the photos on the bullriders on the far right. Did they do the full bleed across the full page or did they allot for enough space such that those pictures have a nice amount of space away from the opening fold of the spine of the book? The spacing 'seems' awful close to the open fold of the spine such that some may be tightly 'tucked' in.

Second, I like the doing away with pages and just tagging by subject. Page Excerpt 2 has the transition page for Weddings on the right side. Does the transition pages for different subjects open on the right side of the page throughout your book?

LOL! that is why I ordered a proof copy. None of the images run into the spine of the book...they are all clear from any edges. I ran the full bleed on each page taking into account the extra room needed for the spine and other edges.

Each chapter has its own Colour Code....each chapter is kept in its group...not mixed with any other groups. The sample pages I showed were just that...random pages in no particular order to each other.

The Contents pages show the colour for each chapter so you can see at a glance where that chapter is as all the pages are in their correct coloured edge.

Judi! Congrats, the book looks terrific! I love the variety you show in the sample pages. I have a couple of photo books in my mind that I want to get to "one day", I'm so proud for you that you have one done! :)

Wow...thanks guys. I hope this may inspire others to put their images into a collection. It is great to look back on and see what you achieved throughout the year.

Heh. Given my last year of complete photographic ineptitude, mine would be more like a YearPamphlet.

You might be surprised...give it a go. I was surprised by how many I had...I had forgotten about so many of them.

Thanks for your honesty. Most people wouldn't agree with a photographers choice in images...but I decided to use the ones that 'I' liked for a change. I guess that is what I liked about it...they were my choice and not someone elses...lol!
