I am finding that a lot of my questons that are answered by other members (thank you all!) sometimes don't relate to a non-paid memeber. I don't know if there is a way, but it would be great to someohow know what appies to you and not. Over all, a great site to be!

Thank you. I had read that. I guess I am referring more to the slight differences that we may have as far as how we use the website. I have just seen that some of the (wonderful) suggestions don't actually work for me and I think because I am not a "paid" member, which I may very well consider!

What suggestions don't work for you (because you aren't a paid member)? I'm confused about what you asking I think.

In any case, if you enjoy the website and plan to participate in the future and get enjoyment from it, etc., I think that you (not you specifically) should pay the price to become a member. It shows that you support what the owners are doing and appreciate their effort, etc.

I think you are right probably.

You should join up Kylie.. It is a great community and the extra challenges make it worthwhile. I certainly don't regret becoming a member, and I have learnt a lot in my time here.

I have to agree there.

I have only subscribed a few times to a membership on a web site and this is the first time I have felt I get excellent value for money. I'll certainly renew at the end of my first year.

Indeed - my plan is to pay for my subscriptions through sales on DPCPrints. Only $24.68 to go :-)

A 32 cent profit is still a 32 cent profit.

:oP

We'll have to sell a heck of a lot of THOSE to buy any new lenses or accessories!

Still no sales for me!

Kylie
We joined only when we decided we wanted to enter some of the member challenges. Until then I'd been a non-paying member only for a very long time. If one challenge a week is enough for you at the moment think on it as long as you need to before deciding whether to pay up. I mean, I'd recommend it of course since it's a great deal in terms of price and includes the ability to post material on DPC Prints to sell (or not, in my case). But think about what you'd utilise and then decide.
PS What features did you find you couldn't access/ make use of that aren't already listed under member benefits?

Personally, I can't believe how much the non-paying members of this site do get for "free". This site is completely ad/banner/pop-up free -- even for non-members. Which means all of the folks with an "Update Now" button who pay their annual fee and sell prints on DPCPrints are actually subsidizing the Open Challenges and all of the things non-members can do for free...

I'm personally more than happy to be subsidising the free aspects of the site for non-members.

This site would be die without those people, without their contributions, comments and without a percentage of them joining the paid ranks after having experienced the site for free for long enough to appreciate the benefits of the paid version.

They also provide a ready-made market for those of us with material on DPC Prints and even those who don't buy may well pass on links that result in sales.

As for ad-free/ banner-free I believe that is most likely as a result of the administrators not having found sponsors interested in paying sufficiently worthwhile for said banners. That's just an added bonus for non-paid members and may change in the future.

Without the current mix of paid and non-paid members I truly believe this site would eventually just shrink and die instead of growing and expanding and improving as it does now.

But that's just my opinion, YMMV.

This is interesting in that I was a member but have now become a registred user.
I have other 'things' happening in my life at the moment, mostly bad but I hope to get my act together and become a member again one day.

You really all are a great community in my opinion. I did join last night . . . even if I don't "use" it all, I like the idea of helping to support something like this. You are all teaching me through your work and suggestions, yet don't seem to criticize people who are honestly giving it their best -- but are beginners such as myself. The things that kept popping up as member/non-member were ways to work the website. It is a little different, in that as a Registered User, I couldn't follow through with some of the instructions. Wish me luck!
