I have a Seconic L308B flash meter that I haven't used in around 8 years. Today I bought myself a present, a studio flash kit and in preparation for their arrival, I have retrieved my flash meter from the depths of my wardrobe, only to find that the battery terminals are quite badly corroded and are now a lovely shade of green and white! Does anyone know what I could use to clean them with, without damaging the flash meter?

Depending on how deep it goes, an emory board might be enough. I've done some that looked horrid, but once the first layer came off it wasn't as bad as expected.

Thanks Bee Cee! Just mutilated one of my emery boards to fit inside the battery compartment so will give it a try!

Once you get the majority of the crud off with the emery board use a pencil eraser to fine tune it. A normal eraser works wonders on all sorts of contacts to keep them clean. That's the high tech method we used in the Army to keep our communications equipment connections right-as-rain.
