I am sure some will not like this idea but I am hoping that some do.

I think it would be good to change the minimum limit on voting from 20% especially for challenges with a low number of entries like current (Lucky and Unlucky) both under 100 images.

For Example.

0-100 images vote 100% for votes to count.
101-150 images vote 75% for votes to count.
151-200 images vote 50% for votes to count.
201+ images vote on 25% or even the current 20% would be exceptable.

I am not suggesting making this the norm around here. But would at least like to see the powers that be give it a try.

This could help improve scores for alot of people around here and might even discourage a couple of trolls.

Hopefully it wouldn't discourage people from voting, But The way I see it, If you are only willing to rate the pictures you like or the first 20% presented without considering the others just for the sake of voting then you are not really being helpful to the 100% of the people who entered that challenge and afterall DPC is about helping others learn about photography.

I always try to vote 100% so my lack of photographic sense affects everyone equally...

As far as forcing higher numbers of votes I am not sure it would help, you are likely to lower the number of voters at the same time.

The images that come up are random. If everyone votes on the first 20% of entries, chances are everyone will get about the same number of votes.

I'm not liking the idea. I prefer to vote on a lower percentage and put more into the commenting on those I do vote on. Raising my minimum % would discourage me from voting.

Can I ask what the difference would be on voting 20% for a free study with 500 entries vs voting 100% on a challenge that only has 100 entries in it?

Yeah, I'm not liking the idea all that much either. This is already such a black hole of my time, I'd have a hard time complying with those minimums. Personally, I would prefer more comments. Knowing what people are keying in on in the image is more helpful to me than just a number :-)
