I wonder how many people will have 'too abstract for my taste' in their copy & paste buffer for easy commenting

LOL. None, I hope.

I hope not as well.. I think this would be a terrible 'open' challenge, but it should make a great member challenge

Finally after a month an idea for a challenge :)

Hee-Hee, now this is up my alley!!! This will be fun. Although, which idea and shot do I want...I have many ideas....hmmmm

I have been waiting to have one of these since I started, and the challenge came from my post to the suggestion box (though I am sure others suggested it too!). Now I definitely have to find time this week to participate!

I am sure it's no coincidence that this is the challenge they are going to start the new advanced editing rules too. I am sure they were worried that they'd get too much digital art before.

Oh boy. Fun.
I know someone will tell me it's a fine picture but they don't know what it is so they will have to vote it low.

"Abstracts are about lines, shapes and colors. If it is recognizable as an object - it is not an abstract."

If i can't recognize it i'll give it a 10 :D

you read the details? lol

I'm a little unsure of the wording, it says it should not be recognisable...

I fear lots of people are going to say "I recognise it, thats a xxxxxxxx, have a 1"

Which might rule out excellent shots that may be recognisable or even worse, if people think its an xxxxx but its not.

Is it a viable ploy to title your abstract in a literal and descriptive "this is the back end of an aardvark" kind of sense? Or perhaps give it a title of something your subject isn't?

I find that the member voting seems to be a little more leniant towards 'abstract' or 'artistic' type entries.

That's a great idea! Just make up a complete lie for the title. It's bulletproof!

Well that works!

I had actually noticed JPR because it used to be JasonPR, unless I'm just going a little crazy.

I'll have to think of a new name, because I'm really tired of movieman.

How do you judge an abstract, what is the criteria?.
Blowed if I would know a good one from a bad one.
04/27/2004 05:51:15 AM · #23
I guess if its abstract and pleasing to look at at the same time IMO... really up to you how you would vote.
