I was just noticing that there are only 22 entries thus far (as of 7:48 PM et) for the Fireworks challenge. What do you think the final count will look like?

The challenge was announced very close to our NYE evening in Australia, and I already had no-fireworks plans :( Maybe other people had the same problem.

Yep.....challenge announced 3pm NYE Australian time....where most people are already out at venues (no computers on hand) or at work about to leave for parties. Not much warning...that plus the rulings on no fireworks allowed for general public and many towns not having firework displays, makes for a lot of Australian members not being able to enter. And the fact that we can't use a photo in the background means there are no options available for us.

Fireworks aren't a big thing around here, either on NYE. I don't know of anywhere within a 50 - 75 mile radius that had any.

There were a few Hillbillies out here blasting their twelve gauges in the air.

Does that count?

Same situation here...I don't know of anywhere remotely close that does fireworks on NYE.

41 with 2 minutes to go - Maybe it is The Answer.

I didn't know of any, nor did I hear or see any in my area. I thought it was a strange challenge - guess I just don't associate fireworks with New Years.

I think I was entry #42, but it's clearly not the answer to anything except my compulsion to keep my overall average in the 4.xxxx range ....

Here in northern Alaska this is the only time of year that we can see the fire works. In summer we have 24 hours of daylight - so not 4th of July celebrations - at least not with fire works.

The Aurora Borealis might make an acceptable substitute though.

This has been a pretty poor season for aurora photographs. I have only seen one decent "show" since November.

I suspect jack is exactly what you've won.

If it's anything better, I want a cut for getting my entry in with under 30 seconds to go ;-)

I don't know about the rest of the book, but that's a great line. :-)

I predict that a large portion of the entries will win a ribbon. And they will likely be photos of fireworks.

Yippy! If I'm a lucky I'll be in the top 40 then! :) And if not I might get my 1st brown. It must be very shitty for the person that ends up on 41st :P

But in the woodie challenge we had 130 entries - 3 times as many. It must be just as easy to buy a pack of sparklers as it is to buy a woodie... But then again; Art Roflmao has enough for all of us, and then some! :P

Nope. I have no sparklers. :(
