does it do any good other than add camera support for the various newer models it lists?

Apart from the increased number of RAW supports the following is in the pdf file as updates

• For cameras that supply such information, the EXIF flag indicating whether the flash fired is now always included in metadata. Previously it was only included for those cameras if the flash fired.
• Noise problems seen on the Olympus E-1 have been fixed. • “Apply Camera Raw Settings...” will now only apply a white balance setting if one was present in the applied preset.
• Updated "As Shot" white balance for Canon PowerShot Pro 90 IS, PowerShot G1, and PowerShot G2.
• Custom Kelvin white balance on Canon 1D/1Ds is now applied correctly.
• The "MaxAperatureValue" EXIF value (if present) from Canon ".CRW" files is now extracted.
• The IPTC information from BreezeBrowser stored in the sidecar .THM file is now extracted.
• Updated the Fuji SuperCCD interpolation algorithm.
• Changed highlight processing logic to increase highlight saturation.

HTH :)
