I am on the committee that is organising the central regional conference for PSNZ. It will be held in Upper Hutt on Oct 30,31st and Nov 1st 2009. Guess who is going to be a speaker and lead workshops on trash the dress.......one of DPC's greats judi!!!!!!!
You have been warned, you now have a year to start saving and make arrangements to come away for a few days. Judi and I are hoping after the conference we can have a GTG.

WOOOHOOO

Heres the website pretty basic at the moment but sign up and you will be informed when we add more info ;)

Hi Charlie.. Congrats. Sounds great.
I would love to be there for that, but Germany is a little far away.

I did a trash the dress photo recently.

Looks like this.

Yes it is for real!
The dress got totally burnt!

Cool, Id be keen on that - do you need to be a member of a photography club to come? I was a member of the North Shore club for a year but I got nothing out of it - the tutorial nights were too basic and the judging nights just dragged on ;)

Keep me in the loop via PM

Pretty cool.

Love to see the setup... Real dress & mannequin... cloned in model perhaps?

I made a mannequin from wire mesh. First I photographed the model in the dress, then put the dress on the mannequin in the same spot, lit it and photographed it. It was then very easy to merge the two photos.

Ohh so thats how you did it! Very clever Lol I think we will stick to more ummm conventional safer trash the dress ideas!

I think I prefer the safer style of TTD...lol! My models have lots of fun and really let their hair down! I am so looking forward to this conference and meeting up with many DPC'ers. So put your name on the list and I will see you all there.

But be warned....there will be lots of fun to be had by all!

LOL Judi your right I think we will stick to something a bit more sedate....the mudslide is looking more and more attractive!

It's just out of Wellington, approx 4 hours drive from Taupo. If I go down it'll probably be with the family so there'd be no room in the car :(

Thats great! Keep in touch and closer to the time I'm sure something can be sorted out :D How are you enjoying NZ? what are you working at?

NZ thus far is a pretty cool place, ive noticed a lot of the electronics are outdated and expensive but the people here are so warm and friendly its rather different from back in UK. I also especially love how NZ is a lot more in touch with its environment than european cultures- the environment is revered and respected and caredc for over here as opposed to something thats 'in the way', so yeah, I like NZ... i was told before i came here that nobody comes here to get rich but comes for the lifestyle, which now makes a lot of sense.

Im working in Taupo currently managing a hostel for backpackers called Blackcurrant Backpackers about a 5 min walk from lake taupo. Im trying to get a photo business underway but cant find the equipment i need in this country... specifically Westcott Umbrellas, but the search continues.
