When did you get yours? When were they commonly available in your area (USA)?

I got mine last July. I'd been looking at them for awhile and was talking to my wife when she said, OK. Just take the plunge and let's get into this and see where it goes. I called around looking for one and the only store that had a 10D was one of the Wolf Cameras down in Atlanta (90 minutes south). I called the guy and offered to give him my credit card over the phone to have him hold it and he said that he could tell by the excitement in my voice that I was on the way. Picked it up that night and I've loved every minute of using it since then.

Bought my 10D in March of last year. Thought it would be the right camera for me so I called the mall camera shop. They had it so I drove over and picked it up. At the time there was a great deal of discussion on dpreview and other websites about how hard it was to get one and everyone was trying to find a store with the shortest wait list. Nobody really believed that I just decided I wanted one and had one in my hand 20 minutes later. However, the first lens I wanted for the 10D was the Canon 50mm f1.8 MkII and I did have to drive to a different store for that one.

I had to get on a waiting list at the local store when I got my 10D this March. Guy called me 3 days BEFORE my bonus got deposited to tell me it was in. I came in the day my bonus got deposited and spent it all and then some. I bought a few lenses too, mostly because I knew what I wanted and I had the money. I got the Sigma 12-24, Sigma 105 Macro, and the Canon 28-135 IS.

I already had from my G5, the 420EX flash and the off-camera cord.

I recently purchased the 50mm f1.8, the TC-80 timer/controller and a flash bracket.

Next on the wish list is an 85mm f1.8 and a 70-200 f4L, but those may take a while to fund.

I ordered my 10d the first week of October. I got it nearly 3 weeks later. The availability of this camera seems to vary from day to day.

As soon as it was available(last March) got it sometime in April and didn't actually get to play with it until May. It's a long story and a boring one actually. Before that I had the D30 which I bought off EBay in May 2002.

March 28th. Circuit City - in stock ( they actually had 2 ). Still experimenting to familiarize myself with all the bells & whistles ( white balance, etc. ).

Picked mine off the shelf at a local store (Vancouver, BC, CDN) on the 3rd of this month. Despite the (rumored) shortage of the 10D in Europe and the US, the store had 11 of them in stock.

When I went out at six in the morning yesterday, the auto-focus ceased functioning in the creative modes. I returned it to the store a few hours later and walked out with a new one.

Don't you I love it when things come together! ;-)

I picked up my 10D on July 30, '03. I actually got it same day, for $1400 (corporate discount through CDW). Unfortunately, the IL sales tax pretty much ate up the savings... but I had it in-hand same day. I had one day's practice prior to shooting the airshow at Oshkosh, WI. Here are a few pics from the airshow.

Got mine last month. Love the camera but don't really find the kit lens that great; the construction of it feels a little sloppy too. But I guess it will have to do until I can afford some better glass.

I bought my 10D from B&H Photo in January. I love the camera, but I'm thinking about upgrading to the version that takes blue ribbon photos.

LOL, that's an easy upgrade, just replace the nut behind the viewfinder!

I would, but thankfully the mould for that part was destroyed when it was discovered that it produced dangerously defective results. However, I recently found a temporary replacement for that part. It's called a "wife" nut. It isn't a perfect part either, but it sometimes produces better results than the original nut. ;^)

I got my Canon 10D on April 18 last year. I picked it up when I went back home for Easter. I had reserved it in mid March. So it'll be a year I have a DSLR. I actually got into photography in April 2002 when I bought my HP 315 (2 megapixel cam). That's when all the madness started.
