My first wedding in July didn't go so well, so I decided to apprentice out to a professional in the area. Here are a few images from working with her; I'd love any feedback!

I think you've done a good job with these ... the exposure on her dress is well done and they all seem to be in focus. I like the DOF, blurring the BG out works well to make the bride and groom pop ... I'm not a wedding photograper and I mostly suck at the Photoshop end, so take what I say with a grain of salt! |

I really love that you didn't stop them and pose them for any of those! I was at a wedding recently where the photographer stopped anyone he was photographing (no matter what was going on) and had them look at the camera and smile. You did GREAT!!! I love the genuine emotion and "unseen" photographer feeling. |

You should be very proud of yourself :) Very soft and pretty shots, also very natural looking which I love!

Many thanks to all! The three biggest things I learned from the photographer I was shooting with (who did all the "direction" and posing) were:
1) It's fabulous when the couple agrees to a photoshoot just before the wedding (this shoot was about an hour before the wedding). Less romantic, perhaps, because they see each other dressed, but they're relaxed & excited & not just into racing to the reception.
2) She would ask them to stand in a particular place, then set up the lighting (she used a Q light & reflector), and then just tell them to relax, talk, or do whatever they felt like doing. At first they were a bit stiffer, but soon relaxed & seemed to forget they had 3 photographers shooting them!
3) It's all about the story & the light. Combine the two, and you get magic. (Well, her images are magic, but mine are better than I'm used to!)
edited for clarity & typos!
