This caught my interest in a mailing today...
Microsoft patents 'Page Up' and 'Page Down'
What the heck is wrong with the patent office. This is a ridiculous patent, as far as I can see. And doing a search led me to the following article about a supreme court ruling, yet we have this madness.

Gee, I was expecting this to link to an article like this at BBspot -- I forsee large profits ahead for corporate attorneys ...
On a side note, I was intrigued by this line near the end of the legal review article:
"The bill would streamline the patent appeal process while switching the US patent system from a first-to-invent to a first-to-file system."
I thought that we had a first-to-file system -- and that it was the basis of our having the "Bell Telephone System," where A.G. Bell got to the patent office a few hours before his rival inventor ...

| The current patent system is no longer a means for inventors to protect their intellectual property. I t has become a means for large corporations to destroy the competition and for others to simply make money from lawsuits and licensing fees off of the resulting FUD. (The recent case of SCO versus EverybodyexceptMicrosoft) |

Dang! I scrolled down this page with my wheel mouse and a subpoena showed up from MS. |

Evey day something stupid happens in that place... sure - have at it with page up and down.... I will use them anyway and not pay a damn thing to M$. Everyone above owes me for the letter "e"... just the lower case one mind, I don't own the patient on the uppercase :-/
