Well it's high time we had an Ottawa GTG...last time it was Ralph, shaman, catoque and myself on the first *really cold* day of fall last year. We shot at the Experimental Farm (easy to get to, free parking, scenic, blend of rural/urban settings).

We certainly don't have to shoot at the EF again, but if you're interested and can think of a locale that basically fits the above criteria, post it here, along with what time/day works best for you. Anytime after 10:30 am Friday is doable for me.

I'd love to join a GTG. I need irl help... especially since my current challenge entry isn't getting any higher than a 4.8. Name the time and day and I'll try to meet.

last time was fun. I'll be there if work does not get in the way (darn the real world). Next weekend is bad though - being the labour day long weekend. How about sometime on the weekend of Sept 6/7?
(edit - typo)

Yeah, Labour Day long weekend is nuts.

Sept 6/7 is awesome. I'm free to join! I'll also like to bring user smjbmw. (my bf)

(The September long weekend I'm planning to take pics of the hot air balloon festival in Gatineau. Photographers in Ottawa, heads up... great photo op.)

Oh, he is definitely a hapless victim of photography! As am I. We are definitely great potentials for Team Suck! :) Parking around Vic Island? There is always parking at the War Museum, but that is not free....

Oh I think we're all up to hoofing it, just limit yourself to one camera bag and spare lens per person ;-) Sad to say, I wouldn't want to leave any nice camera gear visibile inside even a locked car in downtown Ottawa :-(

So, everyone, Vic Island for location? (It's by no means carved in stone, still open to suggestions). Then we need to decide on a meeting time and place - I'll pm everyone for contact info and give out my cel no too - then head to location en masse. Seems to work best and then we can all keep an eye on each other's equipment etc.

May have hberry (my neighbour) joining us too. About time he took some pics and entered a few challenges, dammit!

Morning all *yawn* Another possible idea for location... Billings Estate Museum near Bank and Riverside. Lovely old house, rolling grounds, cemetery, gardens. Oh yeah and free parking :-)

Hi all

I just noticed this thread - I live in Ottawa myself, and I'm always looking for new chances to get out to take photos. Could I join in one of your outings some time?

I actually live within walking distance of Victoria island - man, it's a great place for photos. I've never taken photos at the Experimental Farm.

You got it in one, Leenie. Get a chance to not only meet and shoot with other photogs, but can also keep track of each other online and see how everyone does. Definitely a win-win situation.

just a quick thought (I have a lot of those sometimes)...no reason we can't have a GTG for Billings Estate one weekend, then Vic Island perhaps a little further along, ie early October when all the terrorists err, tourists pack up and go home, so it's not so crowded. And Vic Island would look better in the fall than the Billings Estate would.

Thanks everyone - I think this will be fun. Where is Billings Estate? I've never been.
