Hello all! I'm new, and my first submitted photo was that of "Crash" for the 'on the road' challenge. Yeees.. mine was the one being chatted about in the forums. I spent the week reading pretty much every comment made, and I'd like to say thank you. Thanks to all good and bad comments about it.
Someone mentioned that I should have used a tripod, and others mentioned "techniques" etc.. Well here's my situation with the photo --
My boyfriend was driving the car I was in. It was night time (probably 9 at night or later), and the traffic was very slow. We saw police lights etc, figuring a crash was keeping traffic slow from either cleanup or rubberneckers. We came up to the scene and I saw the police talking to one person who looked pretty shook up, then we saw the truck and we were stopped for a few.
Having taken pictures all day in San Francisco, I grabbed my camera and said "ok well the guy is out and ok, so its not going to be morbid if i take a picture" -- I thought it was kinda cool, seeing the truck upside down like that. So I took the picture. My technique? No flash. I didn't want it to bounce off the windshield of the car i was in and blind my boyfriend. Plus, ya know, maybe the cops might get a little peeved. So the wiggles in the lights, etc, thats all because we were moving really slowly in the car as well as any movement my hands made. I only took one picture.
So. There ya go! A spur of the moment shot. I like it personally, it's just different. :) It was fun participating in this - I tried to find interesting shaddows for this new challenge, but I just couldn't find something good enough. I will have fun seeing what others produced!!

Thanks again for all the comments!
- Jen
