Hello! Glad I have your attention. Bear with me. Yes, surprisingly I got a good score in the end considering that it was originally sitting at 5.6 – 5.8 earlier in the week of voting.

I know the strengths of the photo. However, the thing that I *thought* was a weakness was NEVER pointed out. So thus a poll to help better understand the breakdown of what people saw as flaw(s).

If you would kindly take a moment and leave a response I would appreciate it. This will only help me better understand where my audience (you) is coming from. For your ease, please mark down your selection(s).

A) Picture looks good but on my monitor the piano keys have lost some definition such that they seem to blend together.

B) Ducks only make up about 20% of image. They should dominate the picture more.

C) Boring angle; a straight on shot. Shot could have been taken at a lower angle to give it a more interesting perspective and visual appeal.

D) Crop: too much at top not enough at bottom

E) Title needed work. It was not clear this was a parody on the Blue Man Group

Thank you for your time.

A & D (using a calibrated monitor at the moment)

Definitely NOT E. I knew exactly what it was parodying.

I tend to mark D (and a bit of C), although I don't think a tighter crop at top is necessary.

If I'm allowed, I might add that the lighting is not perfect, parts of the "machine" blend with the background at right side. What i really had preferred would be a colored background instead of white; have never seen the BMG live, but from TV ads I have more color in mind

Yup, on different monitors (looked at it on two others aside from the one at home) it looks different. On two differently calibrated monitors that right side looks relatively fine, but on another it doesn't. So I am going to have to work a bit more on lighting and high key/studio look.

You are right that their performances are full of color and of sound (as well as humor). I originally thought to use the last bit of fireworks to add color but was not confident that I could capture the shot in one setting (not to mention the danger of setting the ducks on fire:-) )

What I was going for was more of the clean advertising look Blue Man Group or Blue Man Group 2

While A is true, I don't think it would have affected my voting as much as C, and D to a certain extent. I did get the Blue Man Group reference. I think the biggest problem with the image is the high-key background. A different background would have highlighted the keyboard machine thing better, and would have probably made it an easier shoot. Overall, though, I like it. It probably would have gotten a 6 from me.

I gave this photo a 9 - I love it, and I got the title.

I gave you an 8. Looking at your options I say C and D. Your pic made me smile and it was an original in the bunch. : )

I suppose a little bit of D, but what strikes me the most is the overall lighting. It's much too strong and doesn't allow the scene to speak for itself.

The contrast is too strong for the scene, and just ends up taking away from it.

So F.

Piano Keys lot definition on my monitor. I think that it is cropped too close at the Bottom. Like many, I am not a fan of the white backdrop, I think you lost part of the piano Definition as a result.
I do not know who the Blue Duck Group is, so a better title would have been no good for me. Not sure cropping out of the top would work though. Maybe a sqaure crop with the added room at the bottom.......
