Due to some recent medical issues, I just (yesterday) picked up a juicer and WOW, I'm loving everything I put in it.
Does anyone else here "juice"? I can't believe the number of neat recipes it came with and how easy (obviously) they are to make.
Maybe we can start a juice-recipe thread with our favorite concoctions... I'll start! :)
Here are my favorites so far from the manual that came with my juicer:
Eye Opener - SOOOOO GOOD!
----------
2 carrots
1 apple
1 tangerine
Mr. Bone's
----------
1/4 small head cabbage
1 celery stalk
1 apple
Liquid Fire
-----------
1 medium tomato
1/2 jalapeno pepper -- YUM!
1 handful parsley - if anyone can figure out how to actually get that to "juice" I'll be impressed...
1/2 cucumber
vitAmin
-------
1 tomato
1/2 cucumber
1/2 bunch parsley
1 carrot
And a quick concoction I just made up myself -- it was SUPER-YUMMY!
2 tangerines
1 pear
1 banana

You fell for one of those State Fair demo sales things and bought a $500 blender, didn't you? Come on, don't lie. :) |

These recipes give you approximately how much juice? One cup I presume. I'm looking for one too.

I have a juicer but I haven't used it in forever because of the amount of fruit/vegis you have to buy to just make a cup of juice!! The recipes you posted look great though .. makes me want to drag it out again! |

Try the eye opener, but instead of tangerine try mango. Mmmmm good! Have fun with your new toy! |

Heh heh heh. I wish. If this and my other dietary changes work, I hopefully can dodge an abdominal surgery which would probably cost me more than $500 in copays, though! :P
You know, I *did* pay over $300 for a couple of sushi knives a few weeks ago, though. I keep telling my wife they are worth it, but she just doesn't appreciate the value of cutting fish into small pieces.
To answer the other questions --
Yup, each of those give you pretty much a full-glass of juice, sometimes more.
The fruit-to-juice ratio is a little offputting at first, but you can use the pulp for other recipes, too, or actually eat some of it directly... or start a compost heap (which is what my wife is doing, so it's fun for both of us!) :P
I don't know much about juicers overall, but from my experience so far, I'd recommend splurging a little for the "wide mouth" versions (which is what I got), so you can easily put whole apples/pears/oranges/etc into it without spending much prep time cutting it into smaller pieces.
The only pain so far is how long it takes to clean after you are done. It's not like it's a big mess or something (it's actually very self-contained and easy to deal with), but it just takes a while to wash all the parts, and scrub the juicer blade and screen so it's good and clean for the new round. I'm getting pretty fast at cleaning it up, though, with practice.

The Lawnmower:
a bag of (peeled) kiwis
lime juice
honey
ice
Juice the kiwis. Add the lime , honey & ice in a blender.
Fill a tall clear glass 3/4 with the 'frozen' kiwi mix & top off with chilled vodka & a pretty stirring-stick.
Instant Hero:
red sweet pepper
spinach leaves
broccoli
carrot
cucumber
fresh garlic
juice all of these & add a can of spicy V-8 juice & some habanero pepper. You can drink this cold out of a glass, or hot like soup.
