I think my eyes need some calibration. Either that or I just don't know how to fix my problem. I have worked on a B&W image collage of my 2 month old son that I wanted to mail out to friends. When I try to print the pictures though, the whites look a little yellow - almost like sepia. I thought that maybe something was up with my printer. So I took it to a local Sam's club. First time they printed some test sheets for me and it came out perfectly. So when I took it in again for final prints, the whites looked a little yellow again!

So I have Spyder at home which I brought out thinking my monitor isn't calibrated properly. After that thing was done, sure enough my entire screen now has a yellow color to it. The whites match what comes out of print. However, I have to say that the whites (even a brand new document with white background) look a little yellow to me. I have had several other people look at this and they have all agreed that my monitor doesn't look right. So my dilemma now is that if I calibrate my screen, the whites look yellow on screen and print yellow as well. Print and screen both match even though the colors are a bit off. But if I don't calibrate my screen, the whites print a little yellow even though they look fine on the screen.

So is there a Spyder that I can buy to properly calibrate my own eyes? :) Please let me know what I am doing wrong.

If my server doesn't go down, you can see the image here:

Thanks!

try seeing things in RAW instead, lol

(sorry i dont know what you can do. but if your eye is confirmed to be seeing yellow for white, then i suggest you go see your doctor)

That photo looks fine on my calibrated monitor. The only true whites though are in the diaper and the baby's clothes. Upon further scrutiny I noticed more true whites in the woman's sleeve. Not saying there isn't enough, please do not mistaken me. This is a fine B&W image. It's your monitor that may need to be recalibrated. How old is it? Is it set to 6500 degrees?

I can't see anything wrong on my calibrated monitor either.
What profile are you starting with? I use Adobe RGB (1998) in CS3, so i used that one with my monitor profile, set up to Warm White (6500) Gamma 2.2 and luminance 130 (on my monitor) and using an Eye One calibrator, and I have no color issues...that I am aware of. What I print on my i9100 are spot on and ordered prints look right.

Thanks guys for the replies. I guess my problem then is that colors on the print don't match what's on the screen. I test printed this on canon pixma 5000. Do you know how I can adjust print properties to match the screen? I am hoping that would also work when I take the image to sams for printing. The guys there are very helpful and they will try out different things for me to get the best print possible.

I am using my led backlit laptop screen for all my work.

I don't see anything wrong either. Do a little troubleshooting like this: Go into Photoshop and go to hue/sat and desaturate all or if you have CS3 go to image>adjustments>black & white. Save as something different and print it. If it still comes out yellow, it's your printer.

Or easier yet, change mode to grayscale.
