That's never a good sign! This challenge turned out much tougher than I thought it would.

Voting normally starts out this way for me... It seems that I get very few comments within my first 75 votes or so... the comment/vote ratio comes up later in the week usually...

My last entry started out with a more than 1/10 vote ratio, which was nice. I guess cause it was one of the "better" ones. (I say that with all due humility.) Which is why today's slow start, combined with the actual score, is not promising!

I learned a TON during this challenge, though, and took easily 10x the number of photos I usually take.

I do think there is some amount of correlation between the 'quality' of the photo and the number of comments it gets... the winning photos seem to get a lot more comments than the 'middle of the road' photos... However, the winning photos sometimes get less comments than the photos at the bottom of the ladder.. I haven't checked this week yet, but I would not hesitate to guess that some of the photos at the bottom got more than those at the top... Shock value gets lots of comments, but not usually high votes to go along with them....

How can you check how your photo is doing on the actual challenge?

In your preferences, check the "Current Challenge Statistics" checkbox. The stats are then displayed on your home page. Beware, this is the most addictive feature of this website! :)

ugh, that's annoying. one of those votes is from me though. i have gone through my first round of votes to kind of break everything up in groups and will now spend the rest of the week fine-tuning votes and leaving comments. hopefully i'll get to yours. :)

I usually vote the first few days, and the go back and comment. I'm not to blame this time though - I haven't started voting yet. ;-)

I browse the thumbnails and select my first group for voting.. I vote in a twisted and demented redneck order but I comment as I go...
