Hello everyone,

I wanted to announce to everyone here at DPChallenge that I have started a brand new stock photography company. It has always been a dream of mine to give more back to the photography community.

We will be paying 50% royalties to start and more this thing start to pick up.

We are also excited to announce that there is a section where you set your own price for your best work. The stock area of the site will sell from $5.00 for large, $2.50 for medium, and $1.67 for small.

We're currently in the pre launch phase and are looking for photographers to fill our site with amazing content. There's currently no complicated signup process as a photographer.

So if you can help us out in any way sign up for free and upload some photos.

Cheers

PS. Any comments are greatly appreciated!

Do you have a referral/affiliate program?
What type of marketing do you plan?
Where is the company located?

Company is located in Ottawa, Canada.

We currently do not have an affiliate program installed.
It is something I would be looking into though.

Is there a commitment for any time or can I delete my images or account at anytime?
08/07/2008 10:31:50 AM · #5
You can delete your account at any point and time, and same with photo's.
We do not want to tie down a photographer in anyway.

My goal is to make this the best stock photography company for the photographers and artists.
As lets admit it with out the photos a stock photography site is just a pretty shell ;)

Be a little easier to evaluate what you're offering if you at least loaded up some sample images so we could see how you will be presenting them. A lot of the success/failure of a stock site depends on the ease of browsing the images and, in general, how professionally they are presented.

Many contributor organize their images by upload in group of five. For most agencies it is good to keep the uploads diversified. Your upload system has only one title, description, and categorization for multiple images per upload.

As it is right now it takes to much time to upload images. Take a look at some other new stock agencies like Yay Micro and Cutcaster. They are attracting the big contributories because of their easy upload systems.

Found the batch upload! So forget what I was writing above.

In terms of promoting a professional appearance, remove the exclamation mark from "All rights reserved". Put something in your "About us" page. I'd think your prospective photographers in your "pre-launch" phase would like to know at least a tiny amount about you before committing their work to your business. You definitely need samples online immediately, probably for every category you have there (or hide categories in public view with zero images).

You need to watermark the images in the views!

Trying to create an account. The password policy is not mentioned on the signup page, but seems restrictive. A password with just numbers gets me "Not enough variety of character types!" but if I use one with a period in it, I get told "Password contains an invalid characters!"

If there is a approval system, please create for the photogrpher lists for "pending" and "rejected". Also let the photographer know why you rejected an image.

I know a couple of printshops that have occasionally asked to use a photo of mine. Once you get it rolling, maybe having some business cards in the hands of your contributors could be useful.

I have sent some of these requests to the programs as I can not do them my self,

I plan to have the about page written by tonight,
A limited amount of volunteers would be awesome to help with the approvals

Once in profit jobs would be offered.

I am currently working on the "Watermark Now" I noticed that it was to light
I have one up now thats almost to dark go figure but working on the transparencies now.

I wish I could upload examples in each area but I just do not have that many of my own photos
thats why I am asking for DPCers help :)

JB sorry for the delay I have to do it manually
