I was taking engagment pictures for a friend of mine....When I was resetting my tripod (because of low lighting)....I looked up and they were kissing...I steadied my hand and snapped off a shot right after they stopped... i really like this shot...because it is real. it wasn't the technically best shot of the shoot..but I like it the most.

I love the "almost kiss". At my engagement shoots all the time I'll instruct the couple to get close ... to almost kiss ... and to "hold it". I torture them ... hold it, hold it, hold it. I usually get a great reaction out of them as I make them wait for it because I tease them as they know it's coming and they just can't wait and it's almost like a magnet that they can't separate until POW there it is. :-)

The thing is, the kiss itself usually just smashes the faces together and doesn't really look all that great in a picture. But that moment of anticipation "just before the kiss" is often the best moment of all. So if you can capture it naturally, so much the better. But if you have to set it up ... it's not that hard to do. :-)

The shots I love to see the most are the ones the person/people don't even know you took until you show/tell them. Spontaneity is a wonderful tool.

One of my favorite "almost kisses" is this one:

I loved this shot... this is of a bride's maid at my daughter's wedding. This girl seemed OBLIVIOUS to me and my camera. I was almost positive she must know I'm there but I later asked her and she said no way, she had no idea I got that shot. She absolutely loved it.
