Below are the final lyrics for the DPC version of the Boomdeyada song which will be recorded and posted to YouTube.

First, a disclaimer: I am not a musician in any form, nor a songwriter, nor do I know anything about music or song terminology, so all the info below is just my best crack at communicating the whole concept.

I ended up with somewhere around 140 lines in 24 verses and 12 chorus instances. This leaves plenty of opportunity for as many members to get in on it as possible, but if it needs to be trimmed due to lack of participation, so be it.

Here are my notes:
Tried to use as much of what was put together in previous threads as I could.
Keeping it in the first person - "I love the..."
Tried to include many DPC cultural things as well as photography related things.
Some lines might require creating an image specifically for it - I will have these done before the final video is produced.

My understanding of the original song is that it has loose rules, so I came up with our own for this project that I thought made the most sense:

Lines 2 and 4 of each verse rhyme (with maybe one exception in line 21d just because it's funny)
Spoken Intro, then...

The first verse I wanted to keep as close to the Discovery channel version as possible and used mostly Jammur's version from the other thread. It is six lines, then the first instance of the chorus.

Then all other verses alternate as follows:
- 4 lines
- 6 lines (last 2 are primarily "some form of "the whole world")
- Chorus
*Repeat*

So here is what we need:
- Volunteers to record one or more lines (up to one verse per person unless we don't get enough).
- Images that match the lines of the song. We must have permission from the owner to use the image in this project if it is not your own.

To volunteer to record line(s): Post to this thread with the verse number and/or line you want to provide and I will assign your name in this post. Get familiar with how the line is sung and use your PC to record it and save it as an MP3 or WAV file - name it with your username and the verse number - (i.e. Art-Roflmao-14.mp3 or Judi-5f.wav). If you can't sing (like me) you can still just say the words - it worked for that Josh the Explorer guy in one of the Discovery Channel versions.

Send your audio files to Judi - she is going to compile all of the audio and produce the final compilation and send it to me to add the images to in the final slideshow/video.

WE REALLY NEED someone to provide the background music track with the song's beats / riffs that flow with the 4-6 verse arrangement. GrandWazoo? Anyone?

It would also be very cool if we had two volunteers to produce a video for the intro part. This was the idea for that: It would be a parallel to the conversation of the 2 astronauts at the beginning of the DC commercial, produced in a video using some cool cinematic style or something - like 2 DPCers in some scenic environment with their cameras - they say the lines and then point their cameras and a shutter sound transitions to the first photo and verse and the music begins.
If we can't get a video, we can still do it with voices and stills and will still need volunteers for that.

To volunteer an image: post to this thread with the image id (in thumbnail form is fine also) with the verse and line it goes with.

Post any questions in this thread also. For questions about "how do I record on my PC?" I'd appreciate anyone who can answer thoose type of technical questions go ahead and answer.

This will take a lot of coordinated effort, but we've done it before and it is always worthwhile.

I can't record though. The guy said it was cool to use this image too.

ETA: If you want to use any of my other photos you can if you need to fill some slots.

Great job (cool that you used my verse). I don't have a way to record (I can't sing anyway) but feel free to use any of my photos you want.

Consider it done! I will start putting it together. I just did that quickly in the other thread as an example of tempo and style.

Would it be easier just to do 8 measures of the basic track for every one who is recording their voice to talk/sing to?

Then I can do something a little better and mix-down the tracks.

Ken...Choose a line for Kita. She is at school at the moment, but I know she will be happy with whatever you choose...she will probably also be thrilled if you choose to use any of her images.
