I said yes and is still to get back to her on the cost as I said I would work out a package. This is something I do want to offer my clients and what a better way to start than now.. Any advice as to how many photos and what sould be a deff'nit in the folio?
I have half a day to complete the shoot.. any advice.? ;)

you might take some good long looks at the portolios on Model Mayhem.

Many of them are likely to be inappropriate, but they should give you an idea of what she's looking to get.

As for what to give... well there it gets tricky, Does she want 20 8x10s, or a cd? Is she bringing a substantial wardrobe? A make up artist, a hair dresser? 4 hours is a long time on your feet, if you shoot willy nilly like i do you can figure 80-100 decent images an hour maybe more to go through and then edite.

Lots of factors.....

I have told her about the make up artist and wardrobe exc... that has all been taken care of..
She does'nt live in my town so she will view the photos online and only order a couple maybe 10..?
She was looking at 20 8x12 photos and to be put on CD..

I will have a look at that site today thanks..;)

I was asked to do the same. He told me that he paid 350 for 10 8x10's with 4 wardrobe changes. I told him I would do it for 400 and he agreed. No makeup artist, only his clothes and props will be used.

I said that I would do it for $250 and that would only be for Sitting/booking fee and a cd with the photos on.. ???

Are you asking for a model release with that? So you can use the photo's too? (May not be necessary there, but here.. sure seems like a good idea)

That is one of the 1st things I mentioned to her..
Glad I did...;)

Even with it being a small place you never know.. you get nasty people everywhere..

What kind of model are we talking about? Are these shots intended for agency usage or are you just being asked to take pretty pictures?

She won a mondeling contest and to advance to the second fase she needs to have a polio..So agents will be looking at it for sure..

Modeling contests aren't the first place that agents look for models.

Mondeling agents look there first. : )
You did the right thing to start right off with the mondel release.

The agents saw her at the contest and asked to present her polio to them..They gave her a timeframe in which to come back.. so I think she got the agents covered!!;) Now it is up to me to make it presentable...lol Perfect is the word..;)

I work with agencies. I've never dealt with model releases when testing an agency model. And I've never met a model that signed with an agency by being noticed in a contest. If the agents noticed her in this case then it'd be an exception, but agents don't go to contests looking for new talent. That's just not how it works.

(oops.. that was a quote by v.mike..

This would be the 1st time that I will be working with a model..
Very intr. what you said V.mike.. I will have to talk to her about that one.. but I do know that she really won the model contest she was talking about..
She also mentioned that they will post her photos on some site.. ;0

To be honest..I will do it anyway.. it will only be more experiance for me!!!;)
And seeing that you work with agen'ies maybe you could help in giving advice as to which photos should be a def'nte in her folio..

I will post the photos after the shoot to be critiqued and commented on..!!!

Give them what they want to see. Look at the images that the agency is using and figure out how your model fits into that.

It would help to know which agency this is because otherwise we're just left to speculate about what they do and what they're looking for.

Generally speaking, make the images about her. Cleanly executed and natural uncomplicated images can get the job done.

I agree on finding out what kind of agency, so you can tailor it to that audience, but even if there is no agency, she wants a port, she's paying you, so if she wants specific types of shots, then do that. All about making the client happy

Producing useful shots usually keeps the models I work with happy =)

Otherwise it wouldn't be much of a portfolio.
