So, here i am sitting in my office waiting out this really nasty thunder storm. Something told me to look outside, so I did. This is the sky I saw. Never in all my life have I ever seen a sky like this. Now, this is straight from the camera with only slight sharpining and resize done to it. Has anybody seen the sky catch on fire like this? Again no filter was used.

This is also a fitting tribute to a friend that I lost today very unexpectedly.

I am sorry about your friend.

We have sunsets and pre storm skys like that here, heat, dust and everything else that is mixed in makes the most unbelievabe things happen. Mind you we are known as the best state for sunsets and sunrises

A couple of nights ago, we had a complete and utter pink sky, never in my life seen anything like it. and of course did not have the camera with me

What lens was used - what's the field of view? I've seen this color in very tight shots surrounding the sun:

but if it's a wider shot with a big piece of sky, it's pretty spectacular.

This is way different, but this sky was pretty freaky too - at 2.00am!

I was using my 18-70mm set at about 20mm maybe. The sun was way down on the horizon, couldn't even see it. The whole sky as far as the eye could see was like this.

Get that quite often around here on sunrises

Indeed, this was with my 70-300 near the long end, in the AM.

Wish I could find the original so I could tone map the clouds. This version does not show the magnatude of the sky that day.

and this one

Awesome sky photos. It is amazing how dramatic and different the sky can look from day to day and location to location. This is a shot - simply resized and uploaded of a sky up in Vermont last year...

I was way-zoomed for this sunrise shot...

Skies come in multitudes of colors. :-)

Orange ==> , Purple ==>
Pink ==> , Fire ==>

This is just about how it came from the camera. Smoke from the Zaca Fire last year.

This was shot in Indiana in 2001ish. I saw through my blinds that there was an eerie redness. I walked outside to see the whole sky the most amazingly terrifying red I've ever seen. I grabbed my camera and ran down to the lake front to shoot these. This was with my crappy point and shoot before I really knew anything about Photoshop, so these are straight from the camera. Unfortunately I did know how to resize the images, and these are the largest copies of the photos I have. I'll never forgive myself for that!
