Eyefetch.com has been off line for two days now. Does anyone happen to know why or have further information?

Ah, that's just silly :-) They've become a distinctly different community... I'm not involved anymore, I like it here, but they are interesting in their own special way.

Like the Bear said...... and then, why not let the sun shine on others too sometimes. EF has started out much like DPC, but at least it evolved.

Yeah they evolved alright. They took the worst part of DPC (i.e. friend manipulated voting) and made it so that's what photos are measured by.

There seems to be a bit of sour grapes here. I know they went down, but they are back up again. Seems to do with updates or something. I guess they take longer than dp to adjust. Mostly because they have so much more stuff to adjust. Anyway, there are no real security measures in the submission of photos, like here. I am a group admin over there for Travel and Destinations, and I can't even view the exif data until the challenge is over. Then I can't dq after the challenge, either. I have to make a judgment during the challenge, hoping I am not doing anything wrong. It is only a problem when the requirement is "Created During Submission Period." I spend some time over there, but not like last year. Have to check in to my group when running challenges. Right now it is Best of for the months of summer. Don't have much time otherwise. Anybody want to come and play?

Here Is The Link

Hope to see some of you join me. We don't have favoritism in my group. Usually it is the best ones that win. If I suspect there are friends voting, I will delete the votes.

Down for everyone or just me - shows that the site is indeed down at this time.

Been there, done that...too sophomoric for me.

You need to look closer. It really is one of the main reasons I left my account there.

Better handling of insider voting needs to be addressed.

Heck I can't even check the place out any more.
I get the following with any eyefetch addy.

Weird. Maybe my net framework is broken.
Wonder how I fix it. I visit many, many
sites and apparently eyefetch is the only
one that is broken for me.

that is exactly how it looks for me, as well, fir3ird.

From the error, it looks like their server has run out of disk space.

They are moving servers and updating the site... It will be back online Monday

This is the latest email I got:

Hi Joe, Thanks so much - after much toil and trouble I was able to find an answer to why eyefetch is off-line. Thanks to google and after looking at different websites I was finally able to see your answer as to why this had happened. I thought at first it was my comp only as I have very little space left due to the all the photos - plus we have a MAC OS X+ system and I sometimes have trouble with incompatibility. I only hope they did not loose any contests. Thanks again - grammyv aka Dot Valenti

FWIW you can remove the www in insert beta and get to the site.

There isn't a whole lot you can do but if you are dying to get on the site you can.

Hi Dot! Louis here. While I have read all the input with EF still down do you think it is a simple matter of switching servers or something worst?

Thanks for the info Joe, I went to the beta site just for grins and discovered that is as far as you can go. I know EF is run on a tight budget and even with us paid members EF doesn't bring in enough to cover operating costs. I sure hope it comes back up.

Again, thanks,
Louis

You have to keep changing the www. beta.
