Hi All
I have a Canon 400D and I am after a seperate flash, being new and on a budget I find the Canon units a bit exxy!
Has anyone tried the units available on ebay(Australia) Are they any good? Any of them stand out?
Cheers

I have sigma 500 supers. equivalent to canon 550's, and much cheaper. I really like 'em. |

Search ebay - they should come up - but pay attention dont get the "ST" versions... get the "Super" versions... i have the 530 but the 500 is probably fine and more in your price range. |

A cheaper option can be to get a cheap flash and a wireless trigger kit - does give you more flexibility, but for your first flash, I would agree with the approach of getting something that is eTTL compatible, for ease of use. The cheap units tend to be either all manual, or thyristor, which I haven't had much experience with. I found a 550EX 2nd hand fairly cheap, but the Sigma Supers are also a good option if you can't find something 2nd hand.

If I could start over again, I'd go the strobist route.
