I will soon be getting a new 50mm 1.4 but since I hated my 12-24 sigma, and sold it, I need to replace it as well.
This I have narrowed down to:
Tokina 12-24 & Canon 10-22
both are extremely well built only about $100 difference
I can get the canon for $600 with my canon employee discount but have actually heard better things about the tokina which is $500..... thoughts comments experiences?

Canon. Resale value, and also 2 mm is a big difference at the wide end.

I don't sell often actually, I bought the sigma used knowing I would sell it....
canon:107 degrees
tokina: 99 degrees
does that really make a huge difference?
also, I should mention, this will mostly be used for wedding receptions and specialty shots (has come in handy before)
I also really want it for this site, and for portraits |

Forget both and wait a couple of weeks for the Tokina 11-16/2.8. It's faster and optically better. For indoor use, the extra stop is very valuable.

I should add that it's what I'm hanging out for as well. Apparently the IQ is better than all the other ultra wides and I love Tokina lenses so I can't wait.

It won't fit on your 5D I'm afraid
