I've been on hold for 2 hours and I thought, someone on DPC always has an answer, so here's my question.... Does anyone here use Mediacom and if so, do you know how to set up the personal webpages? They give each e-mail address free space to set up a website, my problem is, it seems like it gives me two websites. I edit one and it shows up in another and I can't combine them. I have one page finished, but it doesn't allow me to add any graphics or pictures. The one page does let me add graphics and pictures, but then it doesn't allow me to edit the background, fonts or links.

Someone finally answered my call and unfortunately she couldn't help me. Mediacom only supplies the space, doesn't give any support!

Ok, I'm going to give this one more shot. I scrapped the "easy" way and did it the really easy way and just filled in the html codes, but now my pictures don't show up! Is there anyone out there who can help me?

is there a section where you can upload pictures?

or do you have to use a HTML code for everything?

I can only enter it in using html if I want it to look the way I want it to. If I add pictures they will be placed wherever the site builder puts them.

okay well i don't know if you have a photobucket account, but that is how i put pictures where i want them on my webpage,

if you go to www.photobucket.com and make an account you can upload the pictures you want on your website, and there is a section where you copy a code and paste it wherever you want it on your page.

What are you trying to accomplish? How fancy a website do you want?

While I am not a fan of it, Microsoft Front Page is a WYSIWYG website development program. I have used it and it is easy to use, and you can make pretty fancy websites. I recently heard that Adobe has web development tools.

Once you design website, you need only "publish it", which essentially means uploading it to your host.

I googled web development tools and got lots of ideas.

If you mostly want to display/share/advertise your photos, I noted that several of the hosting sites can help. Take a look at the DPC members' websites and see if you can find the "powered by" tag. They don't all have them, but many do.

Good luck.

It's not anything real fancy at all, it's kind of silly actually, but I want to make it somewhat interesting so that people will want to look at it. I did use the windows program, and it is super easy, I've used it several times in the past. The problem is the "publish" part. The host site is kind of jacked up. If you use their "easy" publisher, you have to use their fonts, backgrounds, links etc. So I opted to enter in my own html codes for the page, but the pictures didn't show up.

Good idea!!!! I don't have a photobucket account, but I think that lame Picassa will do the same thing, and I have that. Thanks for the help!!!

I'm almost done, but now I still need help. I loaded my pics into picassa and got the html code, but it's still not working. Is anyone good with html? I didn't think it was that difficult, but apparently it's over my head since none of my pictures are showing up!

Still trying? Post some examples of the HTML you're using to display your pictures.

a silly question, that’s us in that picture up there.style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  That’s me Petey, the little black dog,
giving my sister Pickles, a kiss, a brother-sister type of kiss.style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  She wasn’t feeling well and I
thought it might make her feel better, so no jokes please!

I have mediacom and use the webspace provided by them for the FSM and Skinny-up DPC sites.

I have yet to figure out how to use their site builder. To say the least it's weird. So I just just upload what I want via FTP.

Here's the html code that Picasa gives me for the picture that's supposed to go in there.

eta: here's the link to the same photo. Will it work with the link instead of the html code?

Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Their site builder does leave a lot to be desired.

im not positive, but i think your problem is here

if you uploaded the image to the host for your whole site, you should still type there will be no urls, because the image is coming straight from your hosting site. also, in the past i have ran into problems uploading files with spaces in the names. if the image is coming from a folder titles "Petey and Pickles_files, try changing the folder to PPF or something shorter and with no spaces. do you know if you actually uploaded the image or are you linking it straight to your computer?

the easiest way to do it from step one, is to upload to your host (with no spaces) and then straight link ()once uploaded, the image should be able to be linked to (ie. //www.eccentrix.com/members/oldskoola/mggrrr.jpg)

The image link for the thumb works:

The image link for the large image works too, which is in the anchor tag you've shown here. That particular HTML is fine.

Just so you know, the tags in the exmaple you posted that begin with "v:" are not HTML. That's likely part of the proprietary templating XML that whatever service you have uses. If you're coding that by hand, I'm not surprised you're tearing your hair out. :) Don't bother looking at the code if you're going to use a template in that way.

In any event, you seem to have solved most of your problem.

I wanted to thank everyone again for helping me with the website. It unfortunately never got worked out, so we went a different route.
petey and pickles blog
I have only spent about 10 minutes on it so far, so it is really a work in progress. The intentions of this blog is to help with pet adoption, taking care of your pet, etc. I'm sure it will eventually take on a mind of its own, but for now that's the main focus.
