Where would I find information on the Cokin Filter System, and where can i find the filters and setup for sale? Are they inexpensive enough to give as birthday ideas?

Thanks

What else do you need Rich? Is there something specific you're not finding? The Cokin website has info on every filter with sample photos, and details on sizes, etc... Most reputable photography supply dealers have Cokin filters and the needed accessories (screw-in adapters, etc...). B&H has some pretty good deals on package kits that are worth investigating.

I'd be happy to help with anything else specific... :-)

2filters.com is where I buy them. Very good service and good prices for most items. Check out their clearance pages too.

Here's their handy Cokin page: //www.2filter.com/cokin/cokinp.html

The kits are a great deal and would make a good gift.

That's a bit different from my experience with them. I've ordered from them 3 times, and only once did my order get filled (that was for sensor cleaning fluid). The other two times I ended up cancelling the order (for filters)...seems they keep their inventory quite tight and are prone to backorders. Their service was very polite when I had to talk to them to inquire and eventually cancel, but it is nice to receive what you want in a timely manner.

Thank you both for your help, and I will keep you in mind if I dont find what I am looking for this time Barry. Thanks for everything.

Its more of a dead end on my side than not finding things, i just keep loosing the links i had for stuff as my pc died not to long back and was basically the start of the whole thing.

Thanks again,
Rich

I've had things out of stock as well, but I'm pretty patient--I just left it open, waited, and then they came.

I've placed maybe 10 or so separate orders from them. Twice I received filters where I wanted to return them (slight chip in edge in one case, the other had a scratch). I don't think it was their fault, but the best part is they just sent me a new one immediately, with a self addressed stamped padded envelope to send the other back. I call that good service in any case.

Has anyone used the P-Series filters on a super wide angle lens such as a 10-22? Is there any issues using them on one? I has the kit now, (although I do not know where my adapter rings are at the moment) and was wondering about this.

Thanks
Rich

Yes, I have on a Sigma 10-20mm. With the wide-angle holder (only has one slot instead of three) I get some vignetting at the 10mm end, but not at other lengths if the holder is aligned correctly (with the slots at left and right, not up/down or at an angle).

One other option is to handhold the filer without the holder. I use this often and seldom use a holder anymore for ND's and GND's. However, you will need the side angle holder if using the polarizer. I finally bought screw on polarizers so the only other filter I use is the ND/GND.

BTW - I still own multiple rings and holeders along with the Cokin polarizer so if your interested I may part with them at a discount.
