I'm surprised, I usually don't start this high. The way voting in other challenges has been going lately I'm not expecting it to stay up there.
I knew it! A couple people just dinged me with some really low votes. Figures.

I did my sweep through the images. (Just looking right now). A lot of poker, baseball, soccer, pool, and scrabble. I.e. I am seeing a lot of themes. Now if all the poker players gang up on the baseball players....

| Narrow minded voters right now. The first two votes were fine. Now I'm at 4.0 and should know better than to enter challenges that will be narrowly interpreted. |

| I don't know why people have to give such low scores. The second and third votes my photo received had to be really low since my score went from an even seven to an even five in two votes. When I vote in a challenge I don't vote below a 5 and if I think an image is not very good I simply don't vote on it. Maybe people think they can artificially inflate their scores by voting everyone else's low or maybe they're just vindictive, who knows? It would be nice if they'd at least explain why they voted so low wouldn't it? |

Isn't skipping anything that is less than a five also skewing the vote? I will give a score of less than five, but also usually leave an explanatory comment.

Cherry picking is actually worse in my opinion than voting low. It means you are only giving feedback on the "good" images. We're here to learn and while low votes suck, they happen. However a low vote should also have a comment with it to help that person learn. That's what drives me nut. If you give me anything less than 5 tell me why. Please. Especially if you give me a one.

Yea it would be nice if people would at least comment on why they give low scores! I'm here to learn! :)

Not casting a vote for a "bad" image artificially inflates their score. You really should cast a vote if you have an opinion on the image.
I draw a line at 5|6, such that 5.5 is average. Slightly below is a 5, slightly above is a 6 and then go from there. Really bad can get down to a 2 or 3. Really good can get up to 10 easily. And I don't use 10 as "first place", 9 as "second place". Each image should be rated on its merits and not just relative to the contest. So you could in theory end up with nothing higher than a 7 for example.
