Back in the discussion of the Planning ahead..LONDON GTG 16.03.08 a discussion was started on a GTG for Mid May. To save confusion, I am moving that part of the discussion to this thread. I amincluding the posts of interests from other members on this date idea. Please add in if you are interested in joining in. I will be arriving in London on 18 May 5-50am and leaving London on 21 May 08.

Here is the idea from Simms for that GTG.

Start at London Eye.
Go Past London Aquarium (Old City Hall)
Across Westminster Bridge to
Houses of Parliament/Parliament Square/Big Ben/Westminster Abbey
Up Whitehall, inc Downing Street, The Cenotaph, Horseguards etc.
Trafalgar Square, - Nelsons Column, stunning architecture, National Portrait Gallery.
Head down The Mall - Admiralty Arch
Into Hyde Park, Horseguards Parade etc
Buckingham Palace
Birdcage walk/Hyde Park
The Treasury building.
Back into Parliament Square.

The whole route is a little under 3 miles, and if we start early enough we could even end the day with a trip on the river down to Tower Bridge/Tower of London, only costs a fiver or so.
Loads of photo ops, a few pubs, plenty of places to sit and have a rest. I'll throw the idea out now, give us some time to get names together. Maybe even give some non-brit DPCers a chance to organise a short break over here.

Here are a couple of others who are interested in joining in.

I shall be arriving London 16th May, leaving the 18th :-)

I'll try to leave a couple of things standing.

I'm awaiting confirmation from my 'pusher' (no, not 'that' sort of pusher) but if I can make it I will :o) I'd like to extend a warm welcome to you this trip Judi...just incase I'm ever passing your way and find I'm in need of a cuppa ;o)

No longer your pusher after Graham came to visit with his 'Columbian' goods!

Sadly I'm not sure I can take that Monday off work :( Judi, how long are you around for? it would be a shame not to meet you in the 'real' flesh ;)

Talj....if ever you are my way you are more than welcome to drop in for a cuppa.

Ecce...I am only in London for a few days...it would be great to catch up with you.

I am pleased to see the list growing...yeeha.

At what time are you starting??

I'm in Manchester and would love to make it, meeting you Judi would be great!!. One option for me would be leaving from Manchester on the same day arriving around 11am (I can catch up with you wherever you are at the time), the other option would be travelling on Sunday and staying somewhere (can anyone suggest a cheap/safe place to stay the night?).

I arrive into London at 5-50am Sunday 18 May 2008. I know that I will be exhausted so I am hoping that we can arrange this for Monday 19th or Tuesday 20th. I check out of London early morning on 21 May 2008.
