(General note: most links in this post NSFW)

We've gotten to know a few DPC members recently through our studio events at D. M. Gremlin Studios and Adam Chilson's photography workshops.

So we decided to make an exclusive offer to DPC members for a studio lighting workshop with Adam. This is something that could be a one-time event, or be repeated, depending upon how many members/groups would be interested. Again, this offer is ONLY for DPC members!

We're offering you the opportunity to get a group together and book a private workshop with Adam on the subject of basic studio lighting. Topics covered would be similar to our Introductory Lighting Techniques course, in a half-day format, and focusing on general portrait photography.

The workshop would be a half-day (5 hour) event to be held at D. M. Gremlin Studios in Long Beach, CA, for groups of 4-6 people. Cost would be $100/person for 4 or 5 members, or $75 per person for 6. Limit of 6 people per workshop, to make sure everyone gets plenty of personal instruction and shooting time in the 5 hour period.

So here's how it works: Use this thread to express interest and discuss dates you would be available. When you have 4-6 people who want to book a workshop for a particular date, contact the studio at studio@dm-gremlin.com or 866-334-4364, and we will make payment arrangements and get you in the schedule. Right now we're full through April, so think dates in May or June.

Of course DPC members are also always welcome and invited to take part in our public workshop series with Adam, as well as our monthly studio events!

It's looking like several people are interested and available on May 10 (day before Mother's Day). That's a very realistic time frame for setting up a workshop date for a DPC group, if another couple of people would be available on either day of that weekend.

People who have mentioned interest so far - perhaps these people would want to communicate amongst each other to confirm available dates!

April is completely out for me, but there may be a time in May that I could do this. Let me know when you are all thinking? I am out of town from May 17th through 26th, but I am here the rest of the month...

The studio is booked for weekends through April too - see original post. So this would definitely be something to plan for May or even June, but whenever there is a group interested and ready to book a date.

I have been wanting to dig deeper into lighting techniques. A workshop in CA doesn't work for me but I hope all who attend benefit.

I have been looking for some books or other resources that cover advanced lighting for photography. Everything I've found to date, although it may say it covers advanced topics, cover the basics. Does anyone have any suggestions for truely advanced lighting technique resources?

Thanks,
Mike

Maybe I will talk to Adam about writing his own advanced techniques book. That can be really cool, its a good idea. I will do that when I see him tomorrow.

This is great, just what the thread needed, an idea of possible days. Thanks for posting those. I am sure it will help others out with picking a date so DPC users/members can benefit more.

Awesome - I'm in LA and have been looking for a good workshop. I found out about the last lighting workshop you had the day after it and was very disappointed.

Good dates for me are: 4/19, 5/3-4, 5/10-11, 5/24-25

(if I included Mother's Day, please remove that from my list).

I see a good overlap on 5/10 and 5/11. Again, I can't commit til my job situation is solid; but, I'd really like to go. Does Adam take Amex? I could put it on credit card! If not, I may have to skip... I hope to go though!
