Hi All,

Have just come back to DPC - my computer went up in smoke and hubby has just got me a new laptop so that I can do some photography again. However, I was just about to enter an image for this month's challenge and I had completely forgot how to make the image small enough. Eddy's brilliant tutorial jogged the old brain cells BUT and here's the problem - I seem to be getting a really bad image after resizing - instead of nice smooth edges the pixels are all 'boxy' for want of a better word. I've tried the resizing on several of my pictures and the same happens each time. This never used to happen so what am I doing wrong? What other step(s) have I forgotten to do? Anyone?

sounds like you are resizing with the wrong option (from the pulldown menu in the resize dialog window photoshop), try bicubic sharper

If you have somewhere where you can post a sample, it would be very helpful. Very hard to say what's happening without being able to see it first-hand.

If the laptop screen is smallish, make sure you're viewing it at actual pixel size (even if it doesn't all fit and you have to scroll), not resized to fit the screen. That resize for screen thing will give you jaggies.

Thanks for your replies.

Hubby's bought me a huge 17" screen and it's apparent at full screen and 100%.

I will try the bicubic option and if I fail I'll post up the failure. I won't be able to do this until Friday but just wanted to say thanks everyone for replying so quickly.

Cheers

Jacqui
